Title: Trying to find cheap 02 supplies in the uk ?
Post by melon on Jan 26th, 2011 at 1:47pm
Hello All,

Excuse my lack of intro but Id rather cut to the chase , as I have other issues that are making this difficult as it is.

What i wanted to ask simply ( because im in the uk where nothing is cheap ) is what experince folk here have had with any of the sellers who are selling concentrators like the one below on ebay ?

START PRINTPAGEMultimedia File Viewing and Clickable Links are available for Registered Members only!!  You need to Login or RegisterEND PRINTPAGE

I dont just want to use this for CH , but other issues too you see ( connective tissue etc ) as its seems to help , and is far more cost effective than anything i could get here - even if my doctor was willing to accommodate it.

I dont really know anything about this brans or indeed most brands so any advice would be welcomed , as I dont have big budget to really play with.

I do have account with START PRINTPAGEMultimedia File Viewing and Clickable Links are available for Registered Members only!!  You need to Login or RegisterEND PRINTPAGE , so if there are other brands in the US i could try that would be better , then theres possibility I could get it shipped over too.

thanks

1-5 liters of O2 is likely to do nothing for CH.A minnimum of 15L is more likely to help. Many of us use 25LPM or higher. For more replies from ppl that know 'how it all works' in the UK you may want to post with the subject "Help,O2 users in the UK"

Ditto to what just-squiggles posted!

The concentrator is not effective for CH.  Two reasons: 1) the flow is to low for relief except for a very few of us.  2)  it will only generate approximately 80% oxygen and you need 100% O2 for it to work.

I can't speak to the quality for other uses.  Check the feedback on the dealer and see what others have said about it and him.

You can make an oxygen concentrator work very effectively to abort your cluster headaches, but you're going to need a 40 gallon reservoir bag and have it filled ahead of time.

The following link will take you to a thread and a post I put up on how to make a 40 gallon reservoir bag:  START PRINTPAGEMultimedia File Viewing and Clickable Links are available for Registered Members only!!  You need to Login or RegisterEND PRINTPAGE

Hope this helps.

Well according to the feedback the seller seems legit .

I mean if it helped with my joints etc it would be something but as you say 80 % is not enough for Ch .

The interesting thing is that by helping my connective tissue problems I do seem to be able to " infleuence " my Ch ( In fact Id say even more than that if I was the cocky sort )
, Im not sure if this is the norm here ( I assume not )
but perhaps this might allow me more leyway ?

The only cocentrators you can hire here Ive seen ( the same ones that are affilated with ouch forum ) are 300 for 2 wks , and still not at required amounts you mention above.

Call the folks at OUCH-UK.  They know the ropes on how to obtain oxygen therapy for your cluster headaches.  Here's their link:  START PRINTPAGEMultimedia File Viewing and Clickable Links are available for Registered Members only!!  You need to Login or RegisterEND PRINTPAGE

As far as the link you provided, the UK has standards for filling oxygen cylinders so trying to take a cylinder for another gas like Argon, CO2, a mix of the two. or any other gas that's not medical grade oxygen to be filled with oxygen will be a non-starter...  They won't fill it and you'll be out the cost of a useless cylinder.

Take care,
