I understand that there is a natural law of 'survival of the fittest'  but this is heartbreaking to me.   I hate the thought of shooting any living thing in the wild but were you close enough to her to shoot her and put her out of her misery and the certain chance of a slow painful death???

Rescue it or shoot it.

They shot 100 of them near here the other day. They're all over the roads and whole area is overrun with them. My yard has it's share for that matter.

It would probably have been a good thing in this case too.

Hard winters in our upper peninsula can put a natural dent in the deer population there.

100 mph winds,  sustained temps at approx. 30 below.   Tell me again Potter.  Why do you live there?  You too Mr. Beebe.

As Potter said, the authorities won't allow anyone to shoot a deer in trouble like that OR...rescue them  That poor thing has been dead for a week.   I don't understand their reasoning..but that's their law.   :(

Simple: Because laws are made by men. Men who are imperfect and motivated by things other than Truth and Justice.

Have to move back here. They okayed more shooting. They are starving and a menace on the roads. Of course western NY has a decent deer season anyway.

I found a dead one in my back yard in 2008. It was probably hit by a car and found a place to die.

I like your thinking. :) [smiley=thumb.gif]

The law that photo demonstrates is not mans..it's mother natures. And we all know," You dont fool with mother nature." :D  We should be humble, and more resourceful with mother nature,as she could put anyone or all of us at her feet just like little goatie there.
Anyone remember Katrina.
