WayneF,
This is the site for you.  I also suffer ch and found a lot here under the "Medications, Treatments and Therapies" forum. Read about the Oxygen therapy by Batch and he also has some good suggestions about nutritional supplements under the posting: "123 Days PF and I think I know why."  To his suggestions, and by the advise of my M.D., I added my own supplements of 1,000 mg of Taurine three times a day and 3,000 mg of Glycine at bedtime.
Hope you get some relief soon!

Welcome to the board! Often times when people say they've tried everything, they used a disorganized helter skelter approach cuz they're hurting so much. :'(

Read this link. Used correctly, 02 can abort a hit for most in under 10 minutes. My aborts run 6-8 minutes, been a life changer for me.

Imitrex injectables and nasal sprays are effective aborts for many. The pills tend not to work as they take too long to be absorbed to be of much use to CH'ers.

Prevent meds, a med you take daily to reduce the number and intensity of your hits. Verapamil is a commn first line prevent, lithium and topomax work for many.

Are you working with a headache specialist neurologist? GP's know little about CH, even your garden variety neuros know very little about CH. We find your best bet for a decent treatment regimen is a headache specialist neuro who knows a bit about CH.

Welcome to the board, start reading, an educated CH'er hurts a lot less!

Not sure if this is the case with you, but when we've tried everything the doctors have to offer, it turns out that not only have we NOT actually tried everything, but we haven't tried some of the best stuff that is very effective AND non toxic!

The newer, high flow method of administering O2 that Guiseppi pointed out being a prime example.

Then there's the clusterbuster route which even long time chronic sufferers for whom meds have stopped working can potentially find to be a powerful preventative. Here's the Newsweek article on the subject if you haven't seen it yet: START PRINTPAGEMultimedia File Viewing and Clickable Links are available for Registered Members only!!  You need to Login or RegisterEND PRINTPAGE
