Title: Follow up doc visit! Post by springthyme on Mar 9th, 2011 at 10:18pm
Hey there.
So the last time I was here, I was pretty dissapointed because I realized through research that my issues may not be CH. If not, then I had no real treatment! Nothing has worked in the past...and that really stinks. :-? Soooo, this visit we talked about my specifics and the doc didnt even mention CH's like he did last time. I guess he thought (like I did) that since they wernt in "clusters" they were migraines. With that said, I demanded some new treatment...this just cannot go on or I will remove my eyeball myself. :D He gave me a choice if Depakote or Verepamil. Obviously I chose the Verepamil...I can do without the weight gain and facial hair for now! ::) He also sent me to a biofeedback therapist. THAT I am not sure about. No offence, but it just sounds kookie. Anyone have luck or experience with that??? So thanks again for listening! Its been a long 12 years of migraines and may be a few more until I figure out what is really goin on. SpringThyme |

I have never tried the bio feedback route so no hlep there. Hoping the verapamil helps you out. For me, just knowing I have something that'll battle the headache makes them a whole lot easier to face. Wishing you some pain free time and soon.

I agree with Joe. As to biofeedback, it's useful for some afflictions, but was never any help to me with CHs. My body was sending me all the info I could handle in all kinds of wonderful ways, and while stress reduction techniques could help make the O2 more effective, by themselves did nothing to stop a hit. Here's prayin' you find what you got and how to attack it. Blessings. lance

I've tried meditation which is akin to biofeedback and though it worked for me when I was 17, it don't no more - not for decades! The CH's progressed way beyond that.
I don't seem to recall anyone mentioning that biofeedback works for them with CH's. But I could be wrong, wait and see who weighs in. Have you tried Oxygen? That'd be my first choice over all. Have you tried the vitamin D3, fish oil and all that posted in "123 days pain free and i think i know why"? That really seems to be working for a number of us. If it seems like it's not cluster headaches, and the Doc wants you to do biofeedback, well then in addition to the biofeedback I'd personally go see a skilled massage therapist (I'd actually do that first). Make sure you see one who specializes in neuromuscular therapy (certainly don't go to a spa, you won't get nuthin' but "fluf & buff" massage there!). Call around to several and quiz them on what you're experiencing before you make a choice. Not all massage therapists are as knowledgable as they should be and some are downright kookie (I should know, I am one... not the kookie kind!) Forget about trying Chiropractic, I found that to be a trigger for me. |
