Title: Hi I am new would like to say hi Post by harris on Mar 22nd, 2011 at 7:49pm
Hello i am new to this site. I have had this monster since 2002 minor for about a week in late fall and didnt know what I had until it went accute last November. I suffered for almost 2 months until I was diagnosed only because that was the wait time for an appointment at Duke Neuroligical. I think I am out of my cluster period wright now. I havent had one since 12/6/2011 at 6 am. And yes I remember my last one. I am now on verpamil and sumatripton injections. I will go ahead and say, I am scared of nothing but my own head. I expect I will be ok untill next fall. Has anyone had there cluster dates change from say late fall to early spring? Or does it just random start times.

Hey Harris!
Welcome! From my own experience my cycle changes randomly though mostly I experience it during the long, dark months of Winter (once I had them in June but I was spending a lot of time indoors in a dark setting). I think other folks will chime in and tell you the same thing: That the beast can change unexpectedly. Take a look at the information at the left side bar under "Oxygen Info." O2 is a safe and very effective abortive that you might try in addition to (or even in place of ) the Sumatriptian. I used it this past cycle and was able to minimize my usage of Sumitriptan. I was pleasantly surprised that I could knock out the beast within 10 minutes (if I got to the O2 ASAP). I'd also recommend looking at the post titled "123 days pain free and I think I know why." A number of us (myself included) have benefited from the vitamin D3, fish oil, calcium, zinc, magnesium supplement regimen listed there. Here's hoping you have a long remission! :) -Gary |

Gary said it well. Just as we get used to one pattern, the beast changes direction and heads off to other times, other places...I was a spring/summer CH, and then it became Fall/Winter, and then it became the highlight of all 4 seasons. The best thing is to be always prepared with the best abortives, and if the cycle is long enough, effective preventatives. God bless. lance

Hi Harris!
I basically just agree with what the other 2 guys said. 8-) You're a smart feller for doing some research here between episodes, when everything isn't a big emergency crisis. I would suggest having an arsenal including O2 all planned for and ready to implement (and a plan B!) in case the beast comes a knockin' again. |
