Title: after it goes away...
Post by gardengal on Jun 9th, 2011 at 12:54pm
I was reading a post on ClusterBusters and saw one where someone mentioned the feeling of euphoria he gets after an attack ends. I had never put it into words, but I get that too. Anyone else?

Not sure I'd describe it as "euphoria." More like deep sense of relief and well-being.

Maybe just semantics or hair-splitting.

When I abort an attack with oxygen, I know the attack is done when I get that euphoric feeling. That's the only way I can describe it too! :)

See, it's quite the opposite for me, after I survive an attack unmedicated, i feel completely exhausted, and my immediate thoughts turn to when the next one comes.  I am in a cluster right now, and these have possibly been the worst I have had in years.  I have shadows all day long, and can't feel anything other than pure fear between attacks...euphoria doesn't exist here...

Sort of euphoric, yea. For me its a full-body sigh of relief; I can just sit there and happily look at a wall. Emotionally sober, but extremely relieved.

I'd call it more exhausted.

My experience has been not so much euphoria as burnt and damaged feeling brain.

That's how I feel as well. Since mine normally come at night and last until 3-4 AM, my first priority is just trying to fall asleep so I can get some in before the next one comes on. The only things I feel are stress from the lack of sleep, exhaustion from the pain and dread for the next attack.

Early in the cluster, first four or five days say, I get totally completely HIGH post-HA.  But sadly, that wears off and I'm just left feeling exhausted and dreading the next.
