I totally agree. Bacon and chesse should be their own food groups.

And include pepperoni. And chocolate. And BBQ’ed parts from a dead animal.
Ronald Reagan said ketchup was vegetable. With that logic can we call Jelly Belly’s fruit?

For decades we had the Food Pyramid and America got fat. Way fat. Is anyone really going to pay any attention to My Plate? Only if there’s a glazed donut on it.

Coffee and cigarettes being the other two.

Dayum Bill.  You beat me to that comment.   >:(

As bad as cigarettes are though,  I have to say in my own defense...I don't eat bacon or many fatty foods.  I'd rather have some fruit, wheat toast,  several  cups of coffee and a cigarette.

Yeah, the biggest part was 6-11 servings of grains a day.  Hellooooo, what do they feed cattle to fatten them up? ::)

BTW, read this in an article yesterday...

Quote:
Stephen Colbert objects to MyPlate saying "Americans Don't Use Plates!"  He took on MyPlate, the USDA's new symbol that has replaced the food pyramid, which he calls his "favorite Egyptian mortuary-based nutritional diagram." Colbert is confused by the choice of a plate for the symbol: "A plate? For Food? What's the connection? Americans don't use plates anymore. Our food comes from cases, bags, cans, tubes, and envelopes made of themselves."
;D

The plate idea is better.  Then I can build my own food pyramid.

Much as I love bacon it is a definite trigger, as is ham, or anything cured.   :'(  That wipes out my favorite foods, and has for years.  I can go with biscuits and gravy with grits and a couple of over-medium eggs to be sure my cholesterol doesn't drop.  Grilled pork chops smothered in Cream of Mushroom soup is good too.
