Title: I got caught... Post by wimsey1 on Jun 17th, 2011 at 8:47am
without my oxygen tank. I was taking my daughter to work, about a 20 minute ride one way, when I got hit. I had trex with me and pulled over to inject, but discovered I had only one vial left with only 20mg. It wasn't enough for this hit. I had to grit it out for 40 minutes, breathing rapidly, concentrating on driving, a routine with which I'm familiar but seldom do any more since I just don't let down my guard...except this time.
Lesson learned and even we veterans of the pain wars can be lulled into a false sense of security. Thing kicked off a day long round which finally took 40mg of imitrex to abort. Just a warning to stay prepared. Blessings. lance |

On the wall is a cartoon with the caption: "Most people don't know that there are angels whose only job is to make sure you don't get too comfortable & fall asleep and miss your life."

Sorry to hear that Lance, I too have been caught. Been on the side of I-94 more than once, I can drive only to a certain level then if I have any choice, I,m off the road.
I've often wondered how I would deal with a police officer, or anyone for that matter. ,Don |

glad to hear that even us veterans can learn a lesson. DON'T ever do that again! Also...driving for 40 mins. while under the influence of a cluster attack isn't smart in anyone's book. In fact it's a disaster waiting to happen.

I too actually had too leave work early and return home just because i had left my "ammunition" sitting on the table as I was walking out the door.. Fortunately, I work very close to home and the O2 is at home so did not have to use the trex. Very scary feeling to try and drive through a visit from the beast. Much Luv and PF wishes.

Yikes Lance, that didn't sound like fun.
I've only had to drive about 5 minutes with a k5 or so and that was hard enough, even with a Red Bull, air con on max cold and just willing myself to get home to my oxygen. I was driving home from the airport, which is why I didn't have any oxygen with me. |

Talking of dealing with the police, I got pulled over the other day while trying to get home for an injection. I wasn't speeding, I tried explaining how much pain / hurry I was in, but they insisted on spending 20minutes pulling my car apart by the side of the road while I sat rocking in the gutter. They didn't find whatever they were looking for. I found a new hatred for policemen.

Thanks for the replies, guys. I agree with what many of you said, driving was a bad idea. But thinking about getting home to O2 was really predominant and skewed all other rational processes. I won't make that same mistake any time soon. Maybe later as I get more senile, but not today. You all got the point I was making, though...if we're careless, our better angels will bow to the demon beast and make way for a rough ride. Blessings. lance

The place where I get my oxygen said it was ok to leave a tank in my car in the summer. I have but it still seems dangerous. I crack the window, but it 100 degrees here.
