Not to bang on here but Imitrex does not cross the BBB i.e. it does not enter the brain at all so it has no action in the brain what so ever. Niether on the intra cranial arteries nor on the 5HT synapses nor on the hippopotimous.

It's a powerful vaso constrictor that doesn't enter the brain.

The arteries it does seriously constrict are....

For everyones edification, Danny's dad runs a clinic in SO. Africa that cures CH with the use of a mouthpiece.  Danny is in charge of drumming up new business for the clinic.  He's a fun guy though.

Hmm Vaso=vascular and you do have vaso's in your brain there for a vaso constrictor would enter the brain and affect the vaso's in your brain.   :D

My son A Neuro biology major wanted me to add
Hippocampus is the correct spelling and the metabolites from imitrex enter through the blood stream which then enters the brain which in-turn produces the affects on the receptors.

His girlfriend wanted me to add the correct spelling of hippopotamus which is a river dwelling animal also known as a river horse.
