Title: Ways to Organically Ease a Cluster
Post by 4roCo. on Jul 22nd, 2011 at 9:56am
Hey guys,

I've had clusters since I was about 13, now in my 20's I still get them pretty frequently. I see a headache specialist that helps with getting me out of cluster periods, but I'm not a big fan of using injections for pain relief. I just wanted to share a few things that help ease the pain during a cluster headache, most of which you guys prob already use..Icing the back of your neck, icing your temple on the side it hurts, blow your nose frequently, sit indian style and wiggle your toes (gets your mind off of it), don't be afraid to grunt cause it can help to, sometimes if you lay on your bed with your head hanging off and let the blood rush to your head that can help, eating bread/bagel/sandwich/chocolate can make it peak/end quicker, and sometimes if you put your finger on your pulse on your kneck it can ease the pain. Also, if you put ice on your cheek bone it gives immidiate releif for a second or two (every sec counts). Hope this is helpful to some of you!! Please let me know what you guys do to ease the pain as well. Also, allergies/sinus infections/colds/stuffyness typically do not trigger but coincidentally happen around the same time as cluster cycles.

O dear...I'm sure those are all very nice things to do, and a couple of them actually can help some...like the ice. Problem is, while I was willing to try most anything, when the pain comes there is no taking your mind off it. Imagine you are at a dentist appointment and your tooth is open and every time your heart beats that Steve Martin sadist jabs a probe into your bare nerve...over and over and over...think wiggling your toes is gonna help? Thanks for the post, and as to what we do around here, that's pretty much what this site is about. Read, learn and enjoy. Blessings. lance

I hyperventilate with 100% O2. Seems to be about as organic as it gets.

But maybe that's just me. I have a tendency to use things that have a proven track record.

This is what Brew is talking about! I'm 51, a 33 year episodic sufferer. Huffing pure oxygen aborts my attacks in 6-8 minutes. That's from onset of symptoms, to the euphoric, completely pain free feeling. It has all but eliminated my use of imitrex. It's non addictive, no side effects, fast, effective and natural. Tough to find something to dislike! Welcome to the board. There's a wealth of info here, all designed to make people hurt less.
