Title: On it's way out, or just changing course? Post by JoeKen on Jul 29th, 2011 at 5:18pm
Hi Guys and Gals,
I've not posted on here for a while because, although I found it very helpful in the beginning, there seemed to be less and less to help me after a couple of years or so. I now have a question for you more knowledgeable and experienced CH sufferers:- I'm 71 years old and was diagnosed with CH about 10 years ago but have suffered with migraine for as long as I can remember (a long time :( ). I seem to remember reading a post by Bob (I think) saying that CH attacks sometimes fade away as one gets older. Over the last few months my headache pattern has changed significantly. Whilst I still get my daily headache which invariably hit sometime around mid afternoon and persist for a few hours at up to Kip 6 or 7 they are very rarely now on one side of the head. They now tend to be mainly migraine type (if I can put it that way), generally across the whole of the forehead, sometimes a little further back and round the side, but are never accompanied by any light phobia or feeling of nausea, and rarely get above Kip 3 or so. Does this sound like an exit pattern or just a change of direction by 'the beast'? Any thoughts anybody? TIA, Dave. |

While individuals (doc or sufferers) may answer your question out of their personal experience--
the medical literature is strinkingly lacking in such desciptions/discussions. I assume there is insufficient material to collect in a statisically useful manner to become part of a paper. For my part, they just stopped, "cold turkey", as we say. No transition signs. Take what the gods send you...and be thankful. |

Although I had a really bad summer last year...this year I only get them during the day around 2-3 oclock or so and it hangs for several hours..not th shorter intense bursts I usually get and the pain mostly confines itself to the base on my skull and down my neck and get the ganglion lump as usual. I am 59 and didn't start getting them until I was in my early fifties. Early today I did have a pretty good one though.....made my cheek bone hurt like crazy for a while.

I had a cluster cycle back in dec 0- my second ever I was 49 ever since that cycle I have had "shadows" and break through headaches usually right sided (cluster side) that vary into more like migraine type headaches. I am 51 now and this all started like i said dec09 and my head has never felt the same. I guess it just show's that this whole condition is on a person to person basis and the "beast" plays its games in MANY different ways! I dont think there is one answer and I do know 1 thing is that I learn SOOOOO much more from this site and all u peeps then I would ever from a specialist or Doctor.
Just my input PFW'S to u all Anthony |
