My name is Matt and i live in Sydney, Australia. I have suffered with CCH for 38 years now and have tried any and all medications that are available. I March this year i had a nerve stimulator implanted across the Occipital and Trigeminal nerves. the implant was working well and i was able to control my CCH. All the wounds were healing up nicely until about 3 days before i was about to return to work when one of the wound sites became infected. They removed the implant put me on some heavy antibiotics to try and clear the infection. Around 6 weeks later we tried for another implant, 5 weeks after the surgery i got a lot of swelling at the back of the neck, we took bloods and the results all came back normal. 1 day before i was about to go on holidays with my family the area around the back of the neck where all the swelling was exploded with all this stuff coming out of the wound. I now have a open wound on the back of the neck and the infection is now tracking along the leads around to the front of my head and down to where the battery is located  :( :( after 4 weeks of IV Antibiotics i am now scheduled to have more surgery to have the implant removed again as the infection has not gone. We will wait a longer period after have it all remved before we try again as this is the only thing that seems to be able to control the CCH.

Is there anyone else from Australia on this web site that might have had this proceedure done. At the moment we think that i am the first in Australia to have it done, i know that it has been done in the US but there hasn't been alot of study done on it to see how effective the stimulator is. I have read the other topics about some of the members that have had it done before. I was wondering, with the people that have had it done before did the place the lead at the back of the neck only or did they put a lead around the front in the forhead?

I look forward to hearing about other peoples experiences with the implants.

I have no personal experience either, Carrie, a sufferer who used to post a lot on this board, had the implant done. She initialy had infection issues but overcame them. Very few have had the procedure done, not likely you'll get many reponses on that.

Sending positive thoughts and wishes your way, hope you can beat this infection stuff, sounds pretty intense.
