Ready before the Declaration.   :)

Good direction joining their proud legacy for Mike, and same initials, MC.   Happy birthday Mike and Corps.

OH...I'm all over THAT! I love me some The Marines!

My high school baseball coach (Bill McCutchin) was an ex DI...all 5' 6'' of sinewy steel. He never called us maggots...but used to say "that was enough to gag a maggot"....I love the man. His stories of service still resonate.

Tough love?...I dunno...but he had a twinkle in the eye that told me all I needed to know. He used to put me in games because he was all about the kids (I was a lame-ass ball player). It pissed the head coach off...I know that because that "pile of poo" only cared about winning....and made it clear to me that I was worthless. He is remembered with disdain (how's that for a legacy...while Bill is beloved by ALL "his kids").

Besides coaching, Bill was one of my all time favorite teachers. The subject was English....he was smart, creative, and FUNNY...more than 40 yrs later I can still recall watching him climb on a garbage can and walking it around the room while giving a lecture...dang! did I say I love the man?

One class was "Speech"....if you ever met me you'd marvel at how this guy could ever give a speech...but I've given dozens...and every one owes EVERYTHING to what he taught me....

Marines?..."we'll make you a man"...well, maybe, I think the MEN make the Marines..........

Best,

Jon

Edited to add: Yes..I have told Bill all of the above...and more....and I encourage each and everyone of you to do the same. Remember the folks that have made a difference in your life. I have been fortunate to receive a couple....it remains a treasured gift... and...it's....sooooo...easy.....
