Title: Some legalese for you all...
Post by zacsz on Nov 15th, 2011 at 5:31pm
I'd like to preface this by saying that obviously when any of us are in a really bad physical and emotional spot it can sometimes lead to crazy thinking and drastic decision making, so this is only something that has come up in my thinking. Maybe it's unnecessary.

The question is, essentially, has anyone run into problems with ER visits or hospitalizations regarding a romantic partner (or friend) you have no legal ties to? I know hospitals are technically allowed to refuse anyone who isn't family or spouses in the room.

I'm only 21 and have a boyfriend who is 23. We've been dating for two years and he has been absolutely wonderful about all of this. It worries me that more and more I am not living with my parents and if we live somewhere far away from my home, he might be the only one who can be in the hospital with me. And if we don't do this the hospital can say no.

There are a lot of details to this and it's not a decision anyone can make for me... so... the best question to ask is what I already have; if anyone (gay or straight) has had a problem with something like this. Maybe I'm just worrying over nothing and it won't really be an issue.

A healthcare power of attorney should be adequate.

Yes, that's what my dad said (who's an attorney). So thank you.

Your dad is an attorney and you come to this site for legal advice.  Now that's funny.

My dad is also a son of a bitch who isn't okay with me being gay. Get the fuck away from my threads if you have nothing good to say.

Sorry for your anger...it surely can't help in this battle. Might help to recognize it is HIS problem...NOT yours....We couldn't care less what your life choices are...all we care about is you....

Get the fuck away from my threads if you have nothing good to say.

Myself...I've been told to FO any number of times...sometimes I just ignore it...color me naive.
The definition of "good" is impossibly complex...a difference of opinion does not = "bad"...

PFDANS

Best,

Jon

O.k. Jon.  Tell me who told you that here and I am SO on it.  Gonna rip them a new one if it comes to that.  >: NO ONE here who is searching for help and is legitimate should EVER,EVER  be put down.  This site was meant for sufferers and supporters to help one another.

It's true that none of us are lawyers..but we CAN help in other ways.

I wonder if there is a correlation between testosterone levels, being gay, and CH?  I know there has been research into testosterone levels.  I wonder if the number of gay sufferers is higher than the gay percentage in the general population.  Wonder if that relates to more males than females with ch?

Think I'll go wander and wonder some more.

Bob, that's an interesting question. I don't know that many gay CHers myself, but clearly my testosterone is through the roof since I'm so pissed at everything at the moment and I am indeed a gay CHer... so maybe they're all related somehow.

Better yet, in his birthday suit - like my father-in-law used to when he was in the hospital. Nothing but his walker to hide his wandering wonderment.

now on a serious note...does anyone know if there has been a study to see, what percentage of gay CH sufferers wear boxers vs. the gay community that don't suffer from CH...i really think a study like this could be a significant breakthrough in this awful disorder that we suffer with.....Lenny
