Title: SSRI (Most ANTI-Depressants) Issues with CH ?? :(
Post by flea on Nov 28th, 2011 at 10:37pm
I have noticed, twice now, with (Prystiq )a SSRI (Selective Seratonin Reuptake Inhibitor) that my Shadows are much more prevalent and that I have a constant affected side non CH headache, and even my CH headaches are triggered much more easily once Im up to standard dosage.

Even after a couple weeks at recommended dosage I am still right on edge and battling a nagging sometimes "both" sided headache almost like a fever, that is different than a shadow.

I took SSRI's (Prozac aka Fluxotene) BEFORE I developed CH and had some "SLIGHT" symptoms when starting a course of meds, but they ALWAYS dissipated after a couple weeks and the "Black Moods" would go away.

Is this something that others with CH have dealt with?  Is it the fact that SSRI's actually INCREASE the Seratonin in our Brains?

If this is so, then perhaps I can go back to the first Anti-Depressant (Having CH is rather depressing, Ya know..) which is not a SSRI, but a (Norepinephrine-dopamine reuptake inhibitor) Bupropion aka Wellbutrin, which does not increase the receptors for Seratonin.

Anyone done any research or have any experience with this issue as I do much better with a little "help"

Thanks

Before you decide to offer up negativity.. think twice.   :-X
