Title: New boy!
Post by alex mac on Dec 16th, 2011 at 2:12pm
Wow! What a fantastic bunch of people on CH.com. I've been reading the forum and I'm amazed how upbeat and helpful the members are to each other. 'Spot On'.
I'm a 38 year old male who has suffered from these little beauties (episodic) since the age of 13. It has only been the last three years I have known what has been wrong with me. Years of seeing doctors, scans and ER trips thinking I was going mad until my wife diagnosed me through reading an article in a magazine. (Brilliant!)
What a relief to actually know what was wrong with me and to start chasing up the right meds from my doctor, which took time.
My heads have just started again but feeling confident as I have o2 and meds to hand for the first time. I am going to use the o2 and hold out on the meds until I know how harsh and frequent they come this time.
Depression hit pretty hard on last years bout of clusters so I would like to get enough info together on what of my meds I should be taking, if needed. Ha! Hark at me, give it a few days and I'll be taking the lot and crying like a baby again! Lol!
I have to say I'm a lucky man to have a wife that looks after me when I have my heads and puts up with me when I'm okay.
All my best to everyone! Great Site!!

Welcome to the board, I hear you, my wife found this site and saved my sanity. She always keeps my oxygen and meds stocked, a supporter like that is a real blessing. Take a look at this site also:

They have a lot of info that is specific to your side of the pond.

Then read thru this link to make sure you're getting the maximum benefit from your oxygen:

Finally, go to the medications area and read the post "123 pain free days and I think I know why" A daily vitamin anti inflammatory supplement that's been helping many on the board.

Welcome home.

Thanks for your response Joe. I will take a look at the sites you have given me. Am doing okay at the moment. Over the past 3 days I have had 3 CH at about 80% and the rest are just letting me know that they are still there! Not affecting my sleep patterns as yet. Keeping active playing plenty of golf in the fresh British winter weather, which helps! The neurologist has prescribed me Verapimil, Prednisolone, Imigran Nasal Spray and Trazadone to help me sleep and of course, o2! So i think i'm well prepared!
Hope lifes good for you over the pond.

Just a thought...you can't fly with O2, but there are companies who work with overseas delivery. It is possible you can pick up an O2 cannister when you arrive in Turkey. Also, if you try the imitrex route, you can fly with those, either using them as autoinjectors, which might be best on a plane, or the imitrex tip at the left. Hate to see your vacay get ruined by the beast. Hang in there. We know what you're experienceing, we hate it for you and with you. God bless. lance

Hey Alex,

BOC, AGA and LifeGas are part of the Linde Group and all support OxyTravel...

I've used this service on travel to the UK, Germany, Switzerland, and Norway many times and the oxygen cylinder was there waiting for me when I arrived at my travel destination.

Take care,

V/R, Batch
