Title: Magnesium/Vitamin D3 Supplements
Post by bm7680 on Dec 17th, 2011 at 5:51pm
Hello,
I have been stuck in a cycle of CHs for about 2 months now with no relief. I saw on a few of the posts about Magnesium and Vitamin D3 supplements. I gave this a try and after a few days my CHs have lessened to an amazing point. I just want everyone to give this a try. I know it won't work for everyone but it's def worth a try. I hope this is what I needed to end these monsters. Thanks for all of the posts on this!

Glad to hear you're getting some relief. Read the post "123 pain free days and I think I know why" It's the full version of the routine you've already started. A long read, but worth the time! ;)

Here's the list of vitamins

Omega 3 Fish Oil - 2000 to 2400 mg/day (EPA 360 mg/day, DHA 240 mg/day)
Vitamin D3 *      - 10,000 IU/day
Calcium **         - 500 mg/day (calcium citrate preferred)
Magnesium         - 400 mg/day (magnesium citrate or magnesium gluconate)
Vitamin K ***     - 120 mcg/day
zinc                    -   10 mg/day
Boron                 -     1 mg/day

This regimen can be taken any time of the day, but it's best taken in the morning with an 8-oz glass of lemonade, limeade, or any fruit juice high in citric acid sweetened with with a little honey.  Honey is a natural source of Boron, which is listed as one of the "co-factors" along with magnesium, vitamin K and zinc. by Batch

If possible, perhaps you could have your 25(OH)D serum levels checked, to assist Batch and others in gathering info and feedback for further study?

Also, if Batch hasn't been in contact with you already, maybe you could take a quick (5 min max) survey?

Woo Hoo!  Great feeling isn't it...  I love it when a plan comes together and we see posts like this.

For the CH'ers getting whacked on a daily basis who haven't tried the anti-inflammatory regimen, it's not a lark...  It works, and there's good science behind the results.

Do yourself a favor and give your doc a call.  Tell him or her you want to jump on the band wagon and start this regimen asap...  The more the merrier...

And don't forget to ask for the lab test for 25(OH)D...  Look at it as a form of CME (continuing medical education)...  One-by-one, we're starting to educate neurologists all over the world that there's another less invasive, more effective, and less costly way of preventing our CH that's working like magic for better than 70% of the CH'ers who've tried it.

Take care,

V/R, Batch

Again I am not saying this will work for everyone but I hope everyone with CHs can give this a try because I am someone who had a level 10 a few times a day for days and days with no end. About 4 days into D3 and Magnesium I had not had to touch a painkiller and I sleep the whole night. Today it rained which is a huge trigger for me and I was fine. I feel happy too that I can cure my CHs with something natural as well. So please please please try D3 and Magnesium because this really was unbelievable.

Careful with the "C" word   cure ;D People get all excited about that word. You're talking to a "Batch Supplement" disciple here, I am on the verge of swearing by it as I've missed my Thanksgiving cycle........it's cheap, all over the counter, healthy for you with or without CH...does seem a little silly not to try it. ;)

Been on the regimen for three days and no relief (yet).  Just has one of the worse attacks I've had this entire cluster.  Will keep trying- I have been taking only the D3 and magnesium, will ad the other on the list tomorrow.  Fingers crossed!

I felt my CHS lessen after only a couple of days. After about a week or two they have lessened even more to the point where I had a drink the other night and it didnt even cause one. But unfortunately I am sure everyone's response time will be different if even at all.

Hey BSIC,

The average time to a favorable response is 3 days (min = 1-day, max = 10-day)  Most CH'ers who respond are PF before the end of the third week.

Hang in there and try to get the Lab test for 25(OH)D.  CH'ers who go pain free generally test in a range of 60 to 90 ng/mL.

If "No Joy" by the end of the second week, see your doctor and tell him you want to up the vitamin D3 dose to 15,000 IU/day for three days then up it again to 20,000 IU/day for another three days.  Keep titrating up on the vitamin D3 by 5,000 I.U. every three days until you reach 30,000 IU/day or have a favorable response whichever occurs first, then stay at that level.  If you haven't had a favorable response by the time you've been at 30,000 IU/day for two weeks, drop the vitamin D3 dose to 5000 IU/day and have your 25(OH)D tested.  You may have another condition that's interfering with vitamin D3 metabolism.

Take care,

V/R, Batch
