I know how you all feel about folks who leave the boards after the headaches stop... but my husband just wanted to forget about them altogether, so I honored his wishes.  He's not one for message boards and forums which is why I've always come here on his behalf.  My last post was 2007.  Near the end of 2008 something really great happened.  While in the middle of his cycle (which has been constant and predictable since he was 6. He's 31 now) we confided in a friend and a sort of "spiritual leader" of ours.  He said he felt like there was some kind of curse or dark presence over his father's side of the family and prayed with us that it be removed.  Now, I'm sure there are plenty of you who aren't religious but from that day, in the beginnings of his cycle, all attacks stopped!  Since then, not only have things turned around for us in almost all aspects, but we DID in fact find out some very disturbing information on his father's side of the family!  He didn't know his father by the way.  Anyway, I think deep down we both knew that we were looking at a remission and not a "cure" and this past Saturday that was confirmed.  I hastily went out to purchase some welder's o2 for him and I figured out how to rig it all up the best I could.  This is his first time using o2 because in all these years, no doctor would prescribe it for him.  He had an attack last night and then again this morning which is when I set out to get the o2.  Then he began one about an hour ago and tried the o2 for the first time.  I seems to work so far!  However my question is this... Before, one of his abortive measures was to sprint.  That seemed to make the attacks stop.  But the more he used it, the harder it became to abort, and he also realized that when he DID abort an attack, it kept trying to come back again as if that pressure was only pushed back and not released.  Has anyone else experienced this with o2 as an abortive?  Thanks for your input, and I apologize for leaving the board.  :-[

Some say that one can abort an attack so quickly that it really hasn't "finished". The initial relief is followed by the rest of the original attack. More O2 at that point can't hurt.

Some people need to stay on the oxygen for a period of time after the hit seem to have been killed off. I've seen suggestions from a few minutes to as long as it took to kill the CH. Try experimenting to see if this helps.

What I do for a high Kip CH is to also drink a Red Bull (or other energy drink which has both caffeine and taurine). That works for me.

Would be useful to use a long acting preventive medicine to give protection. The short acting abortives, whether O2 or other meds, are not a complete treatment package.
