Title: Alcohol and CHs Post by Mike8488 on Jan 27th, 2012 at 7:42pm
Seeing as I have just recently discovered CHs as an actually aafliction I had no idea that the beer i drink on fri nights to relax was actually bringing on my CHs. I always just chocked it up to timing. Does anyone else still drink a beverage knowing its going to bring on an attack. I am not an alcoholic by any stretch of the means but I really enjoy 3-4 beers on a Friday after a long work week. I now know full well im going to pay for it but I still would like to indulge? Does anyone agree or am I just being selfish and stupid?

Some people do. I'm not one of 'em. Quote:
I'm not sure anyone would care. Sounds like you're a big boy. You can decide that one for yourself. Your head. Your pain. If it's worth it, go for it. |

I guess it depends on how much you like beer. Ya gotta really love it if you know you're gonna get hit after ya drink it - yet drink it anyway.

I know over on Clusterbusters, some people have compared the intoxication of LSA containing seeds to be a lot like a 1 or 2 beer buzz...Just saying ;)

Hey Mike, any beer you don't want just send to me and I'll ensure it's returned to Mother Earth in the most environmentally-friendly way.

Mike, i coulndn't even drink one beer w/o getting nailed, until i went on the verapamil/lithium combo. Now i can drink mostof the time w/o worrying, unless im in a real bad episode of headaches. Basically every time you put a beer to your lips you are taking a chance, beer and clusters disagree like roadrunner and wild e coyote. Everybody is a little different so you just gotta see what works for you. One night i could drink 1 beer and get nailed, the next night i could drink 10 and be fine.

While many of us know alcohol to be a trigger, and a fairly reliable one at that, there are other triggers to be avoided. Some involve such a drastic change in the way we choose to live our lives their absence is felt powerfully. I was never a heavy drinker but I did enjoy a drink now and then. For the past 30 years, I have found myself doing two things: weighing the desire for a drink against the near certainty of beastly punishment. That internal debate has generally resolved itself as my having one or two drinks a year out of sheer desire. And I usually pay for it.
The problem is, we build up resentments when we are required to make lifestyle changes. I have seen in my own daughter a resentment toward much needed meds manifesting in a refusal to take them. While this is in the reverse, if we resent having had to give up certain things, then we have a much stronger felt need to drink, or whatever. My solution has been to not drink, except very rarely, and when I do I know I wll pay the price. Paying that price reinforces for me my better decisions, but having the freedom to choose prevents the resentment from building too much. Blessings. lance |

Couldn't have said it better myself. I usually only drink on two occasions. My birthday/wife birthday and New Years. On those times i usually try to just drink past it, and I usually start out with Red Bull and Jaeger, then Red Bull and vodka. Seems to help some to get the Red Bull in me from the start. Used to try it on our anniversary but the almost certainty of a hit put a damper on that plan pretty fast! |
