Title: Stress
Post by Bonnie lee on Mar 4th, 2012 at 12:07pm
Got in a car accident friday night after working a 12 hour shift at work. I am okay but my new mustang isnt and let me just say my stress level went through the roof. I have been doing so well. the new topamax was doing wonders and then bam!!! Saturday afternoon the devil returned with a vengenance!!!!
Thankfully i had saturday off of work. today i just have the leftover pain behind my eye. annoying but tolerable and of course i have to work tonight.
Has anyone had stress  as a trigger? I have heard people say that stress is a good thing for clusterheadaches and downtime usually triggers them but damn this just sent me over the edge!!!!

First question: did you get a good physical after the accident? Need to rule out concussion and/or whiplash injury before you make any other judgments.

Overall, stress apppears to be less of a trigger compared to its role in migraine. But if you got one, you got one.

From other posts, stress seems to be a wobbler. For some, staying stressed will prevent an attack, as soon as they relax, say a nice easy Saturday morning, WAM, they get hit. Others, like me, sustained stress while on cycle will bring on an attack. Just one more of the beasts annoying traits!

First off, good news that you're in one piece. Whilst it isn't good news about the car, you're more important.

Totally agree with the suggestion about getting a check up to make sure you've no whiplash / concussion or similar.

I'm one of those for who stress reducing is a trigger, with most of my CHs being evenings and weekends. Whilst it makes it easier for working, it isn't the best timing for non-work activities.

We were hit from behind last November, rather hard, too. I also found an increase in both intensity and frequency of CHs. I reported this to my GP and my neuro. They both felt an increase in headache activity "could" have been related to the accident...brain sloshing around and all that. Get checked, but I would raise the question with my neuro if I were you. They said it can take about three months for an accident induced frequency to "settle" back down. God bless. lance

The car really wasnt jarred or anything. He just basically scraped the side. I didnt hit my head or didnt slam into anything. I feel fine. i did just realize that i do tend to get my hits on the weekends or in the evenings when i get home from work. so i guess that is true. when things arent as stressful thats when you get them.
