Title: I Can't Stop Worrying Post by HeyItsMe on Mar 6th, 2012 at 12:56am
Hi all, I'm a teen and I can't stop worrying about cluster headaches. I've never had one, but am terrified of getting one.
My family has no history of any type of headache, but I'm just a worry wart. Is there anything that you guys can say that'll comfort me? :( PS I feel bad for all that have to go through this. |

Huh? You're a teen with no history of headaches in your family and you're worried about getting something that only .01% of the population gets?
What's the real reason for your post? |

If you experience other problems which are grabbing you so badly OR you find yourself so anxious that it's getting in the way of the quality of your life, then suggest you talk with someone you trust to take your concerns seriously.
While such anxiety is not uncommon, it's really helpful to not let this pattern of feeling persist, even spread to other areas of your life. Then it gets locked into a tough habit to change. The direct response is: the risk is MUCH less than the daily risks of living--driving, encountering a school bully, even having a nasty fall when walking/sports, etc. Just don't blow it off if you can't shake this concern. Oh, and stop reading the site UNTIL you actually develop Cluster. More you read, the greater the anxiety. |

As always it's tough to add to Bob's advice. The fact that you go on the net looking for conditions to be concerned about tells me you've got a little bit more on your plate then you can handle on your own. No shame in asking for help. Whether it's from a school counselor, a referral from your medical doctor, or your clergy. Do talk to SOMEONE about your concerns. Wishing you peace.

I really wonder what brought you here, HeyItsMe. It took me more than 10 years after the blooming of the Web to even start looking for info on what had been controlling my life since I was 18, and even many doctors don't even know about cluster headaches.
One thing I can tell you is: I found throughout these years that if I worry I get a CH attack or a cycle starting, it seems to ease the way to slipping into one. Please stop worrying and live fully, and forget about us... I would even suggest deleting your account here. Reading our stories is plain boredom and can lead to depression. Just enjoy life and live the present moment. You cannot know anyways what life has in store for you. Why not think it will all be good? That probability is certainly much, much higher than any other. Cheers, and I hope you won't even login to see this post |

There are probably a million rare disorders you can look up on the net and start to worry about. Life's too short for that kid!
