Title: Get rid of your clusters - I have
Post by Alex Gingell on Mar 20th, 2012 at 10:39am
Hey guys, I'm a 40 yo man whose been free from of clusters for 5 years.  :D  and I'm sure they're gone for good.
I started them aged 21 and had 2-3 a day for 3-4 weeks every 6-8 months for 14 years! I had the very best neurologist in the UK Dr Blau (now deceased) and i tried everything, and although most things helped, nothing got rid of them. Well I did get rid of them and I want to help you guys do the same!!!! The answer is hydration, I would have never had believed it when I had them. I couldn't imagine life without the dread of going to sleep because when you wake up, its like death is a good option. Drink 6 pints of tap water a day for a week, then 4 pints of water a day thereafter. Not fizzy, iced, coloured etc... just tap water, straight down. It will take a week to hydrate yourself at least but hopefully as it did with me, it will change your life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I couldn't find a "finger-drumming" gif.

Best,

George

G'day Alex. As it happens we're well aware of this option and if you look to the left of your screen you'll see it even has its own button! (Water X 3).

Even so, thanks heaps for passing on something that worked for you and may help others. I hope something nice happens for you in return.

Also Alex..thank you for editing your first post later on to spell out WHAT it is that got rid of your clusters.

You DO know that there is no cure for clusters?  Even some who have been PF for years have been told by a leading Neurologist who has worked closely with us, that they will come back.  Having a 5 year reprieve is great.  I sincerely hope another cycle won't start anytime soon.

I completely understand the excitement of stumbling onto something that works. Taming the beast gives you such a feeling of control in your life again! :) As our resident Aussie mentioned, this has been such a useful tool we gave it its own sticky on the side of the board so people will try it to see if it's effective for them. here's the link to it.

Sadly, as with most CH treatments, one size doesn't fit all, so it will work for some, like you, but not for others. Please stick around, continue to read all of the treatment options available that are working for others. that way, if heaven forbid the beast manages to break through your current treatment regimen, you won't get caught flat footed without a back-up plan.

Thanks for sharing what worked for you, here's hoping it never stops working!

Thanks for sharing that with us. I think Marge stumbled upon that one back somewhere in the 90s and we thought we'd found the bright shiney light at the end of the tunnel... and it DID work for a little while on some of us.

It's a good treatment and I hope it continues to work for you and I hope some others will try it and "maybe" (fingers crossed) it will help them also.

And I do wish you a LONG remission.. :-*

Thanks for getting back to me everyone. I may not be able to help everyone, maybe not even most, but I KNOW what water has done for me, and if I can help just one person get free of hell it'll be worth it. For those that want a shot at normallity please try drinking tap water (5ltrs or more for a week) then keeping it 3ltrs a day. Pack up smoking. Stay off fizzy drinks, coke etc. Alcohol is OK, just drink more water.
I may well get them again, but I just dont think it's ever going to happen!

uh...alcohol is a HUGE NO-NO when in cycle.  It is a  sure-fire trigger.
Soda and cigarettes...make no difference in CH for the majority of us. I'm sorry if it is for you though.

I hope you can get  a chance to really look around this site.  Especially the links to the left and under the 3 boards above this one.  They all have vital information everyone should know, who suffers from this damnable condition of ours.  Most of the information has been culled over the last 13 yrs. this site has been in existance by veterans willing to contribute but also Neurologists who have worked closely with us over the years. Not to mention research that has been done by a lot of us.

BTW... I tried the "water times 3" method (link to the left of here)  about 10 or 11 yrs. ago. It gave me VERY severe pain in my kidneys which scared the crap out of me, so even tho drinking water would seem to be innocent enough...it can be dangerous when taken to extremes. Just like anything else.

I'm new here. I was here years ago but left because I thought mine were gone too. I tried the water treatment and it didn't work for me. Water is about all I drink nowadays. Too old for anything else.

I started Clusters at 55 and am now 82. I have a cycle about every year or 2. CHs are no where near as bad as they used to be. I think it's generally understood that they fade with age. Maybe there's more room for air up in the Hypothalamus when you lose the "Grey" matter. I used to use a different pseudonym but I've forgotten what it was ????

How old is Brian anyway ? It seems like he's been around forever. Knew some Aussies in Quinon way back then and had the pleasure of an R&R in Sidney.

If I couldn't be USA, I'd want to be Aussie. Truly great people.

You're an honorary Aussie so far as I'm concerned, old mate.  Welcome home and it's my first shout.
