Title: Relpax and cost associated Post by drunkenbusdriver on Apr 8th, 2012 at 9:38pm
Hey CH,
I've been here since 04 (I think) but my username got messed up. I recently started on Relpax and Imitrex and boy howdy... one works way better than the other. Relpax lasts nearly a day whereas Imitrex... well... Imitrex doesn't seem to do much of anything. I spent the weekend at my girlfriends and I got an occurance late last night. I popped an Imitrex and sat in the shower for an hour and a half. Just miserable. Got another occurance at around 2pm today (it is now 8:30pm) and immediately popped a Relpax (eletriptan). which resulted in zero pain today, same as when I popped the last Relpax 4 days ago. So, finally, my question isL is there something similar or generic to Relpax I can obtain wthout spending an exorbitant amount on one pill?. Relpax is about $8/pill on my plan whereas Imitrex is about $1 a pill. I need relief, Relpax works amazingly, is there a substitution? I tried to search the forums but came up short, sorry if I reposted, I haven't been here in a while. Any help much appreciated, thanks guys! |

I don't know about a generic, but I wonder if it would work as an all day prevent & if you can still take a shot of imitrex when you get a HA?

I couldn't find any other generics offered but Pfitzer offers a coupon that might be worth checking out. Are you only popping pills to abort a hit? Pills are much slower than is O2 or triptan injectables. Who diagnosed you, when and how are you being treated? There are much more effective means of managing the beast than you describe. Share a bit more. Blessings. lance

Ask your druggist.
