America's Oldest Teenager, Dick Clark, has passed at age 82. He probably did more than anyone, anywhere to spread Rock & Roll around the world.
Rest in Peace, Dick. We'll all see you later. Maybe on New Year's Eve in Time's Square.

His dance show goes waaay back.  I remember in elementary school a quiet girl in class was excused a half hour early to go home and I whispered to her, how come?  She didn't have any friends I knew of to talk to but was a little bursting with excitement to tell someone - her older sister was going to be on his dance show she whispered and was going home to watch.

The whole school knew the next day and suddenly she was popular.  It was like an outcoming for her. 

American classic.  He had a great influence, a starter who saw and made a lot happen.

American Bandstand...in many ways, along with Ed Sullivan, it produced a revolution in American culture. Even I watched it.

I've danced so many hours to American Bandstand. Dick Clark will be missed by us "old" teenagers...

American Bandstand ....  I was a dedicated watcher from Birth it seems till it's end in 1989. 

Thing about getting older, when the Icons pass, it gets easier with time.

I was still a tween when Elvis died and I cried like a freaking hysterical lunatic.  But it was one of the closest moment my father and I ever shared.  He just held me and let me cry without trying to stop me, or say words that would shorten my sorrow or pain.  Just let me wail in his arms till I had no more tears. 

I teared up for Dick.  He'd been a staple in the music world, and as a creator of so many of the pop cultural cornerstones that defined the" American Way Of Life."

An era has ended.  May the next be as bright and beautiful as the one Dick Clark heralded in.
