Title: Sleep (or lack thereof) Post by CDog on Apr 20th, 2012 at 12:58am
When in cycle, how much sleep do you typically get? I sleep about 4 hours (if I am lucky) then am up for three or so hours, then back to sleep for a couple hours, then off to work. I am currently working the graveyard shift.

Sleep? What's that? Nah, sleep rocks and lack of sleep doesn't. We've established that even chronics like me have high and low chronic cycles...weird that...and in high cycle I'm getting hit every 45 minutes usually between 10PM and 3AM. I have an abortive progression I follow, ramping things up if I can't chase away the beast by the end of the 2nd hit. I used to just stay awake as you do, but I've learned to maximize what sleep I can get in between the hits. Blessings. lance

;D ;D Seriously, sleep deprivation is the last thing you need when battling the beast. Have you tried melatonin? There was a thread awhile back that went into the differences between types of melatonin. It was generally agreed that the "good stuff" is n-Acetyl-5-Methoxytryptamine. Some people take a combo of both the immediate release (to get to sleep right away) and the time-release (to stay asleep). Start with 9 mg about 30 minutes before you go to sleep. Many can avoid the wake up hits that way. JOe |

Yep, tried the melatonin up to 20mg and it didn't help. It was a combo, immediate release and timed release.

I think that the lack of sleep (now that I have O2 and don't have to endure an hour of torture at a time) is the hardest part of CH.

I'm an insomniac...so...lol none! I can't be much help on this one... I have a really crazy form of insomnia. I woke up during surgery...and remember. So i was conscious and alert...i have been given a mild anesthetic to help me sleep...or rest...because I was up for so long they thought it would help cut off the beast. Well it might have if it actually would've put me to sleep.
Anyway, this was in no way helpful...just know that with or without sleep, stick to you reg, keep fighting the good fight. Just my opion...i would rather suffer a lifetime of sleeplessness than one second of a cluster!....and as I said before...insomnia...longest time up with no sleep, 6 1/2 weeks!...that's why they tried the anesthetic ;) Love and Gratitude! Stay PF my friends! |
