Title: New here and THANK YOU I AM NOT ALONE.
Post by Shadowwalker on Aug 15th, 2012 at 6:30pm
I am new here my name is Eric and have been fighting with the demon for 16 years. I never knew what exactly was going on with me until earlier this year when I started doing reasearch of my own after countless doc visits and pain at diffrent times during the on cycles. I am so glad I found this site today finally a group of understanding and supportive people who know what I go through. I remember the first time i ever got an attack I was 18 in my car on the way to florida to move in with a buddy of mine and I got what I call the twinge most all of you guys I guess call them "shadows" and then boom it hit a full fledged 8 on the richter scale as I have been calling it thought I was going to crash and thought I was dying with a brain anyurisim sp???. 45 minutes later after crying and rocking in my car on the side of the road it was gone little did I know that this would be the start of a struggle that until today I thought I had to fight with no understanding or support. I have tried to stave off attacks with various meds and herbs and have some success if I catch the twinges early other times not so lucky Like today I had a K7 (i like the pain scale by the way it is very accurate) lasted about 50 minutes today and also I have a new symptom during this cycle that I didn't have before a kind of tunnel vision or flashes of light thing???? Sorry this is so long but I have been wanting to just explain for so long about how I feal. Luckily my wife has been very supportive during the 9 years we have been together she has seen me at full blown k10s and has never left my side when I need her most and although she sympathy she says she could necer understand the pain I go through even though she has done full blown labor with no drugs lol.
I am at week 6 in this cylce but I can start to tell the attacks are starting to go back into remission at least I hope for now anyways. So in closing thanks in advance for the site I hope I can contribute some

What Bob said! And in addition, how are you treating the pain or attack? I could be wrong, but it didn't sound as if you are doctor diagnosed. Are you? Self diagnosis is pretty tricky since other conditions mimic CHs and are treated differently. Let us know more so we can help. Blessings. lance

Sorry I am from georgia. Originally I was self diagnossed but the doc that I have seen when I can afford it seems to agree with what I have found after being looked at for sinus problems and blood pressure problems he still wants to refer me to a neuro but I cannot afford it. I have been using feverroot as well as vitamin d and E to control for preventive it works most of the time although nothing is fool proof I have found.I have been given imitrex it does nothing I also have learned what to look for and if caught in time beleive it or not downong water like a fish with heavy doses of asprin can usually knock it down not always but usually.

If Imitrex does not work and aspirin does help this suggests that you don't have Cluster.

Besides, regular use of aspirin will lead to increased attacks if used more than 3-5x/week.

It is, however, important that you use Imitrex at the first sign of an attack. Delaying until the attacks is well developed won't cut it. But, if you do take it early, and no relief--this suggests not Cluster.

I see this is the common trend after reading some posts is to say that people dont have ch and it is something else while they have been diagnosed funny how for 16 years I get them at the same time every year they come on like clockwork the drooping eye the crazy pain always one sided well thought I had found a place that understands oh well back to battling alone

Shadowwalker - like Bob, I urge you to get diagnosed, or re-diagnosed.  We can't say one way or the other if it's cluster or not, only make recommendations based on what you report..but it is strange that trex doesn't work...
.
but either way, please remember you don't have to do *anything* alone... there are wonderful people here and "out there" who can share in any experience you are having.

OK, Imitrex pills or injections? Pills are useless.
1. Don't give up on this site... regardless what anyone says to you, this is still your best place for information and support.
2. Have you tried O2?
Top aborts are O2 and Imitrex Injections.

Believe me, Shadowwalker, it would be good news if you don't have CHs, not a put down. blessings. lance
