We understand, mate, truly we do. Try a freezing shower, a bag of frozen peas on the bad side (just avoid bags of frozen mixed veg on account of the carrots).  Have you tried Red Bull?  Chug it down, it might help.

Perhaps your local fire station can help you with a hit of oxygen.

Running on the spot. Concentrate. It must end and you'll be the winner yet again.

Kick him, make him pay!

Well it's 8;30 now and guess what I just woke up got a couple hrs sleep. I would really like to thank Aussiebrian for his advice about the firemen. The attack at 1'30 this morning was a really bad one and would never thought of the fire dept but I called there and they let me come in there and get some o2 at first they were like you want what for a headace they had never heard about that. But they gace me 4lit a min for fifteen mins seemed to work but the attack was fadeing a little should have called them alot sooner. I know I am like really new here but just wanted to say thank you all I know now I am not the only person in the world that gets there tail kicked by a headace and turns into a big baby. Mon when I have my return to the doc I'm telling him about this sight and to look at some of the tretments herethe o2 I had helped alot along with a amp energy drink and a cold compass on my neck all which I learned from here again thanks everyone for the help pf days for everyone I pray

May I suggest you try desperately to find a new doctor?  One who doesn't give up on you and will prescribe 02 for you to use at home.  You obviously cannot be running back and forth to a fire station 3 or 4 times a day..AND,  4 liters per min. is definetly not enough.  Most here have a regulator that goes to  25 lpm.  Some use an even higher flow rate with much, MUCH  better results.

I live in Madisonville, which is a small town in western Kentucky and I found a knowledgeable doctor.  Surely in a town as big as Bowling green, you won't have any trouble.

Linda

edit to add:  You should also be on some type of preventative ( Lithium, Verapamil, etc.)  as well as an abortive. (Imitrex, Zomig, etc.)

Hyperventilation with oxygen is the key. And that's only supported at flow rates of 25 liters per minute or higher.

I agree with Linda - you need to fire your doc and find somebody who will work with you and admit that you already know more about your condition than they do.

red bull was suggested because there is something in it, maybe the taurine, that gives it a better success rate than caffeine.  Try taking melatonin before bed that has helped many.  Definetly try oxygen at a higher lpm and with a full face mask.  Read the link on oxygen info on the left highlighted in yellow.  It will open your eyes about getting the most out of how to use oxgen correctly to our benefit.  Also try to get imitrex to take if oxygen fails you.  Then try to get on a preventative medication such as verapamil, lithium, topamax, elavil, etc.  There are many options out there.  Good luck!!

I've been at the breaking point, I am there until this moment. I used a tens unit tonight for the first attack and the pain reduced by 90%. Feel free to message me as I am looking for others to chat with. I see u posted your phone number but I don't want to wake you not do I know what time it is where you're at. I live in northern California. It is 1:30am here right now. I will be up again in another 2 hours with an attack and I will check my messages.

Dear Thbaker,

this is one of the relieves that you know that many other people can understand you, and are same as you and have sympathy with you, specially to know that they are very nice people ( i mean here in CH.) even i am writing to you from other part of world to give you some sympathy.

We as clusterhead fully understand and know your pain, and nobody esle can understand this pain. I have difficullty sometimes to explain even to my family that how much this pain is sever. when I talk to other people they only know the migrain and headaches but explaining the difference , no you can not and  they cant belive it.
anyway, my advice is to find a good doctor, who understand the cluster headache and has a good experience in it.

I am almost at the end of my cycle but for my case having an "ergotamine"  before sleeping will prevent the attacks during sleeping. of course I am using other preventive medication like prednisolone verapamil, and amitriptyline that completely should be unders doctor supervision, but for ergotamine 1 mg before sleeping i can recommend it. meanwhile pelase stop drinking alcohol and also smoking stricktly, and ndo nto take the nap. as per my experience.
one another thing that maybe is effective after attack is sinus buster that you can buy from valgreens, and use it inside your nose, it may give some relief.
one another advice is to start the O2 as soon as you find out that the beast is coming, it will be more effective when to be used early.
wish PF times for you

Try going to the "where we live" section on the list of sites.  Look to see if there is someone near you that can recommend a doctor in your area.

It is amazing how wonderful and helpful the people in this world are.  Never be afraid to ask a question, someone is bound to have a useful answer or suggestion.  It is unfortunate that somethings work for some people and not for others.  It's a matter of trial and error.

Look out for yourself, you'll make it thru.

Louise
