Title: help getting oxygen refill Post by Tuxguy on Nov 1st, 2012 at 6:31pm
I've had a RX for a few yrs. now for Oxygen. Now I go back to get my tanks refilled at Lincare and they tell me they can no longer refill my tanks as a cash customer. Since Ins. wont pay for it I'm like your kidding right? Nope. So I went to Air-gas and they tell me that I need to be a Dentist or a Dr. to to get Oxygen. Im in Oregon, are the rules different from state to state? And of course this comes as I'm beginning a cycle of attacks any help is appreciated.

How 'bout you weld metal railings for porches and ramps in your garage for side jobs and need O2 refilled from a welder's supply place.

Tuxguy,
Medical o2 tanks can only be refilled by medical o2 suppliers. So do not expect to bring your Lincare o2 tank to Airgas, etc and fill it up. As Kevin stated...you need to resort to welders o2 at this point, as you no longer have a prescription. You are essentially starting from scratch in terms of you needing a new tank and of course filled with o2. My suggestion is to go to a different Airgas location in your city or find a similar business who specializes in welders supplies. Do NOT tell them you re breathing o2 or they will not service you. You MUST lie and tell them that you or a friend is doing a welding job, learning how to weld with a friend and asked I pick up a tank of o2, hydroponics, whatever, anything but do not state you use it for any medical purpose. You with be faced with the choice of renting or buying the tank. Often rentals require credit applications and have been known to take a couple weeks to approve, so you may consider purchasing a tank. As a cash customer without a business/commercial contracting account established, the welders supply store may require a hefty security deposit. So I suggest purchasing the o2 tank! Unfortunately you will most likely need this o2 tank the rest of your life. So go get a large 200 cubic foot tank that stands about 5 ft tall. I'm sure you are aware you will require a high flow regulator that fits your tank properly and a non-rebreather optimask with reservoir bag so you may hyperventilate and abort quickly. Every time your tank goes empty, just roll it on into the welders supply store and they will swap it out with a filled tank of exact size. Good luck ;) -Gregg in Las Vegas |

Oxygen prescriptions usually expire in 1 year. You may need a new one. Lincare should have given you a reason why. ?

If you have a valid prescription they legally have to give you oxygen whether you are paying cash or are using insurance. If you continue having issues PM me and I'll try to find a supplier that can help you.
