Title: Trying something to prevent a cluster during cycle Post by ClusterSufferer on Nov 5th, 2012 at 6:02am
I've been trying something for that last couple cluster cycles. As strange as this may sound, I swear this has made a difference in preventing a cluster while I'm sleeping. Whether I take a nap in the middle of the day or lay down at night to sleep, I have noticed that if I lay my head on the side I get the clusters, I will get a cluster. If I lay on the back side of my head, I more than likely get a cluster, but if I lay my head on the pillow or sleep on the side that I don't get my clusters, I'm ok. I have been testing this out for 2 years now, and as crazy as this sounds it has helped in preventing clusters within a cycle. Even if I'm sitting up and fall asleep watching t.v. with my head resting on my hand or head leaning toward my cluster side, I'll get a cluster. My clusters are on my right hand side and always have been, as long as I sleep on my left I won't get a cluster during a cycle. You may think its coincidence, but I'm telling you it has made a difference for me. Its almost like stuff that shouldn't be, is draining to one side of my head and causing pressure on that side, but if I lay on the left it doesn't go over to the right hand side causing pressure in my head resulting in a cluster. Or my brain is not resting on something on the right side of my head (from gravity), that it shouldn't be causing a cluster. That's how it feels, and the only way I can make sense of it. Has anyone else tried this or noticed this, and if not give it a try and post back if it has made any difference. Not saying what works for me will work for all, and it is very hard sleeping on one side without tossing and turning through-out the night, but I have become very conscience of it, out of fear. I would like to hear peoples thoughts on this......thanks.

I've sworn by that exact system for fully 35 years, mate. Don't know if it makes a blind bit of difference but fair dinkum I feel like I'm fighting back.

I have noticed the same thing. My attacks are always on the left. Sleeping with the left side against the pillow will guarantee an attack.

A lefty too, I won't sleep on that side in an active time, it's a consistent arouser, like inviting them. Sleeping right-sided still has its natural flow of hits, but at least I'm not enticing more of them. |

I'm a righty, but I don't go to bed until I know I'm done with them for the night. I don't seem to get the REM hits, or else I don't sleep well enough to get into REM sleep I don't know. Anyway, I know if I go to bed to soon no matter how I sleep I'll get hit and it will be to far in to deal with before I awaken.
I'm glad you found something that works for you. Jerry |
