Title: D3 working for me! Post by monterey on Jan 10th, 2013 at 1:36pm
I'm 47 and have suffered from chronic CH's for the past 7-8 years. Mine are moderate, not severe, but I don't think I've had a day without headaches during that time. They are worse in the mornings and fade during the day. The headaches are on the left side and I have changing neurological symptoms on the left side of my body. About 3 years ago my Dr referred me to a neurologist and I was subsequently diagnosed with chronic CHs. I quit smoking and drinking about a month ago and this seemed to have reduced the severity of my headaches, but did not eliminate them. Yesterday I reading this website and saw threads about the vitamin D3 regimen and bought D3 and magnesium on the way home from work. Within 2-3 hours my pain was gone and I am still pain free today. It's been a fairly dramatic change for me. Trying not to think I've found cure as it's still early days, but it is looking good. Thanks to Batch and all posters that have shared their experiences with this treatment.

This is fantastic news and gives me a great deal of hope as I start this treatment.

Update after 1 week on D3 regimen. Still mostly pain free. Have noticed mild headaches/ shadows in mornings. Best that I've felt since it all started 7-years ago.
On a related note, I searched clinicaltrials.gov with keywords vitamin d AND headaches and found several studies that are currently underway using vitamin D3 supplements to treat headaches. |

I've now been on the regimen for over 2 months and am now mostly pain free. For me, I've found that the magnesium supplement is the critical component. I now take 500 mg in the morning and 500 mg at night. A couple of weeks ago I went out of town without the magnesium and the CH were back as bad as ever. They were gone a few hours after getting back on the magnesium. Anyway, that's my experience.
