Title: A BIG thanks to Mike NZ and Batch Post by Sdweb75 on Mar 6th, 2013 at 5:18pm
With the help of the information you provided I was able to get my doctor to Prescribe O2 and Sumavel (Sumatriptin) Injections for when I can not get to the O2. For a preventative she prescribe Topamax. The insurance will not cover the O2 but I can get an unlimited supply for 45 a month delivered, small price to pay to be out the kind of pain I have been in.
I am sure if I had not been armed with the information from your help I would have not been successful. A Mucho Grande Thanks again. The kind of support and help forums like this provides is truly un-measureable. In 1987 I had a host break and drop a car on me I suffered a crushed back. I went through 2 back surgeries and was still in pain, in 2004 I was in a wheel chair and could not walk. I was told I would have to have a double fusion and that the outcome did not look promising. I found a forum like this for Back Injuries and found out about ADR Artificial Disk Replacement, no doctors in the US did the surgery here it was still in trials. I found out that I was able to go to Germany and get the surgery done, the whole bill everything out the door was 28,000 dollars. Four days after the surgery I walked 3/4 of a mile with no back pain I do not even take an aspirin for back pain now, it saved my life. |

Welcome to the board web, yeah, Mike and Batch are okay people aren't they? ;)
Just curious, I did a cross country bike ride with a guy named Malta, from Germany, who was the primary contact for people having this type of spinal column replacement surgery. Know the guy? Joe |

Really pleased that you were able to get the medications that will make a huge difference to how you manage your CH.
It's just great to be able to help others with CH, just as I was helped so much when I came here a few years ago. |

I would like to second the Big Thanks to Mike NZ and Batch. Batch for the guidance in getting the Vitamin D-3 regimen going and following up with a phone call and encouragement and Mike NZ for providing a plethora of information that prepared me for my follow-up visit with my neurologist.Fortunately for me, I don't have CH bouts as frequently as some nor as severe. Hitting 8 is high enough and 4x/wk. is too many. As a result the following has occurred:
1. I'm on day 14 of the Vitamin regimen. 2. My neurologist has diagnosed me with Paroxysmal Hemicrainia and Clusterheadaches. Apparently the first diagnosis is one that affects mainly women and the second is one that affects more men. I get both, Oh boy. 3. As a result of this diagnosis: I'm taking Indomethacin for the Paroxysmal Hemicrainia and Lithium for the Ch.My problem is that I'm allergic to Verapamil. Our plan, the one to break the cycle and hopefully keep them from becoming chronic is to take the Lithium just long enough to break the beast and not give me the same tremor it caused last time. 4. My neurologist was pleased to get some of the review articles sent my way from Mike NZ. Anyway, I big thanks to both of you and to all who post and normalize and understand what this experience is like. It is a big help. I'll be continuing the Vit D-3 regimen and look forward to the day that I can once again raise a pint to Batch and Mike NZ. Lars |
