Title: Isoptine & Zolmitriptan
Post by Daan on Apr 8th, 2013 at 2:02pm
Dear sufferers :)

I'm glad to find out about this forum. Since the last 4-5yrs, I'm cursed with this disease. Since past year, the activity increased so much and my neurologist recommended to break through the cluster with the use of Isoptine. During the daily attacks, I have to use medications like Hemicraneal or Zolmitriptan.

Does anybody of you guys have somehow the same treatment like me? I'm having daily attacks since the last 4 weeks. It looks like the Isoptine isn't working at all.. I'm also afraid that my body is getting immune to Hemicraneal since last week, so my neurologist gave me zolmitriptan.

Greetings,
Daan

Easiest to tell you what does work. PDF file, below, is the latest evaluation of meds.

Daan, isoptin is verapamil here in the states. It is an effective preventative (I use it) but only at much higher doses than is usually prescribed. At lable dose level (240mg/day) it did nothing for me. At 480mg/day it started to help along with other meds. Zolmitriptan (nasal spray?) didn't help me, but imitrex (sumatriptan) injections do help. The best though is pure O2 (high flow means 25lpm+) with a nonrebreather mask. See my other post to you about a good starting regimen. Blessings. lance
