Title: Nearly 4 year break
Post by yesdog27 on Apr 18th, 2013 at 11:26pm
I'm baaack! It's been nearly 4 years since my last post. Thankfully that means I have been mostly pain free. I accomplished this through rigorous prophylactic verapamil usage before my usual cycle time. Last year I got cocky and decided to forgo the regimen. I had one attack start and tried my first ever imitrex shot and it went away immediately! It completely aborted the entire cycle! So of course, like an idiot, I was cocky again this year. Been in cycle for 10 weeks or so. Thankfully the imitrex still works like a charm to abort individual attacks. Back on verapamil and melatonin now for about a month. Hoping to break cycle in the next 2 weeks. On a positive note, I had become a bit of a beer snob over the last few years. I have dropped 30 pounds this cycle...

Also tried O2 for the first time this cycle. Seems to be working well now that I have the proper flow and a mask. Thanks for all you're tips!

Woke up with a full blown about 45 minutes after going to bed last night. 15 minutes on O2 and been pain free ever since. Cant beleive I waited 25 years to discover O2!

Great to hear that you've got your oxygen and it is working.

Have you read START PRINTPAGEMultimedia File Viewing and Clickable Links are available for Registered Members only!!  You need to Login or RegisterEND PRINTPAGE ? It has a load of info about using oxygen.

What flow rate are you using? Are you hyperventilating?

Yes, I read the info, it made all the difference!

Of course even my Nuero who happens to be a good one didn't prescribe it correctly and I ended up with a 8 lpm regulator. I bought a 25 lpm online and its been working like a charm. 10 minutes seems to do it for me

I've been painfree since 12-2005. I sometimes get shadows, and I think they're coming back but so far they havent. My Dad was a sufferer also and his stopped almost at the same age.

Other than the odd 'rogue' one, its been 8 or 9 years for me.   (can't even remember anymore)

I still check-in here every now and then to see how everyone's doing but there's a lot of new people and a lot of people have left.

I wish I knew what I was doing different.   ::)

I just wish EVERYONE could have a long pain-free stretch like mine.

Great addition with the oxygen, yesdog.

Btw    Good long spell no brain cramps, Grant. Been awhile, welcome back.   :)

I quit smoking! I believe it may have been the one tangible that fits. I know lots of smokers will want to hang me and say it cant be. My Dad quit smoking and quit getting the CH's. I quit, and I also quit getting them.
