Title: Ethanol rubbed/applied over skin Post by MattyAA on Jun 2nd, 2013 at 11:09pm
I have been prescribed a med that has 0.7ml ethanol in the concotion as 'auxilary' ingriient I presume and I wonder is it safe to apply such on skin having CH? it is suppose to be over temples/arms etc.

Sorry I just re-read my post maybe i didnt precise qustion, I wanted to ask if anyone of you think because I could not find anywhere on internet and doctor said its fine and wont cause headaches, but I dont really know... I am outside of my CH cycle, is there danger that just applying very small % that is used in a lotion/cream this thing medicine could cause me to get CH bout?
Any of you do use meds with ethanol as ingridient/component or you rather stay away from such? In fear that it might cause CH/migraine? |

Ethanol is plain old sour mash corn whiskey. I'm not sure if it is absorbed through the skin, but I imagine drinking a shot of it would be far more likely to trigger an attack than rubbing a little on your skin.

I've never had any of my triggers start a cycle. They are only problems for me when I am on cycle. Off cycle everything is fair game for me! ;)

The form of alcohol contained in the vast majority of topical products is isopropyl alcohol, not ethanol. I don't know if that makes a difference regarding it's ability to be absorbed through the skin, but most people who want to use ethanol as a mood enhancer tend to drink it (as opposed to soaking in it). ;D |
