Title: Here's some thing new. Post by Hoppy on Jun 5th, 2013 at 1:57am
I recently read an article on this. For those of you who are
desperate for a good night's sleep without the REM wake up call ,you could try this. Inject with Imigran before going to sleep with a two half life, they say it can last for, four hour half life. [smiley=sleep.gif].I know their are other Triptans with higher mean half lives, for example, Frovatriptan 26hrs. But this could be worth a try with less side affects. Hoppy. |

I didn't preventatively take Migranal without an active hit, but I would take it if I got hit just before sleepytime, knowing it would last about 24 hours. I was cautious in its use for lots of reasons but while the DHE was slower to take effect than imitrex, it did last longer. So for a night or two I got a decent night's sleep. blessings. lance

I'll use migranal after I have a hit because when I get them they usually come in twos or threes.
That said, I would use Melatonin to sleep and if that doesn't work up the dose. Before I had that, I would use imitrex pills (didn't have injectable) to get through the night. |

I would be very skeptical about this. Imitrex is not a preventative and I've never felt that by taking Imitrex in advanced that it would make much difference after more than 1 hour. Besides, IMO ... nobody should use Imitrex if not absolutely needed to abort an attack. Imitrex may cause more attacks or other serious health issues when taken.
I'd be looking elsewhere for preventative type meds if I were you. Good Luck I4B PS. And no, it's not new. This has been discussed here many times. |

Imigran was mentioned not Imitrex. You can buy Imigran over
the counter in the UK, it's a safer option. [smiley=confused.gif] |

Imigran contains sumatriptan, which is the active ingredient also found in imitrex. |
