Title: Heat trigger remedies Post by LasVegas on Jun 5th, 2013 at 11:21pm
Summer is upon us...it's over 100 F daily here in Sin City right now...many of us have reported triggers to heat so I thought I would post this short list to help the new family members here in Clusterville and as a reminder to others...
1. Your vehicle..car, truck SUV, etc.-Adjust air conditioning temperature to the coldest setting and fan on high and place face right in front of vent and hyperventilate. 2. Before you leave the house, place frozen ice packs into an insulated lunch box to keep with you on your outing. You may get hit just on a quick errand or in middle of your workday. so no matter how long you will be away from home out in the summer heat, prepare for the worst! Apply frozen ice pack to pain areas of head as needed. End of day, remember to return ice pack to freezer for next day. 3. RedBulls or other energy drinks placed inside those insulated lunch boxes containing ice packs. 4. Keep yourself hydrated-H20! H2o! H2o! Another helpful item to place inside insulated lunch boxes with ice packs, energy drinks, etc. 5. Imitrex injections and nasal sprays should NEVER be left outside in your hot vehicle unless, you guessed it...placed inside the insulated lunch box with ice pack, energy drinks, H2O, etc. CAUTION: Imitrex may impair your thinking or reactions. Be careful if you drive or do anything that requires you to be alert. I'm sure other CH'ers here can chime in with additional helpful ideas to avoid getting stuck with no remedy while out in the heat... -Gregg in Las Vegas |

One of the best things I discovered was the the rasta hat. Get yourself a big old rasta hat, the kind that you could stuff a huge headfull of dreadlocks in, and pack it full of ice. I survived a heat wave in South Carolina a while back doing this. Only problem is that you look a like you are sweating gallons out of your head.
The intranasal ketamine I have prescribed (the only drug that has been able to give me the ability to work a 40 hour week again) has also seemed to be very helpful in the heat. I have read that it helps to lower body temp but right now I'm having trouble finding the link. I'll keep looking. -Ricardo |
