All,

Starting another cycle - even though I have been on a relatively low dose of Verapamil as a prevent (360 mg/day).  Am well stocked with abortives, but don't want to use them up.  These are not killer yet - 5-6 on the KIP scale.  Anyway - I have my Prednisone script.  Am out in the middle of nowhere Nevada on a project and came prepared.  My question is - the Prednisone script says take 6 10mg tabs daily for five days then taper.  I think I should take them all at once at the same time daily, but wanted to confirm.  Not asking anybody to be a doctor - but this is the standard treatment.  Can't afford to be disabled at work right now - so (as prearranged with my Doc) I am going to do a taper and up my Verap dosage to 480 mg/day.

Anyway - to late to call a pharmacist or my Doc, but wanted to start tonight.  Any help is appreciated in advance.

Almost forgot what they felt like - almost went a full year pain free.  Life, as they say, is a female dog........

PS - I have done the taper once, but can't for the life of me remember clearly if I downed em all at once or not.  Think I did.  Hate that aging effect called memory loss...........

I had my first predisone taper just recently - pharmacist said i could take them all at once, but with food and lots of water.  I did my first dose that way after dinner my first night, but I spaced out the next few doses - so i was 20mg 4 times a day first three days, and tapered from there...my second and third day i did 1 20mg with breakfast and one 20mg with lunch and two 20mg with dinner - seemed to work ok with me..im on day 7 tomorrow - down to two 20mg tomorrow..Again not a DOC, but this is how I did it just a about 6 days ago and I lived...Hope this helps.

Sweet TeeJ - thank you very much.  My taper is a bit stronger and longer than yours, and I was pretty sure to take them all at once, but wanted confirmation.

Good luck to you - been having this evil thing on and off for going on six years.  Had hopes the Verap. was the magic elixir.   Starting to think there isn't one.  But will up my dose an do the taper.

Tom,
By now you probably have spoke to your doc about your Pred taper and Verap increase.  But one CH'er to another...if you get in a real pinch, PM me, although NV is a GIANT state, I might be able to help if needed.

Thanks Vegas.  Appreciate the thought - think I will be fine.  I am working near Battle Mountain - 'bout as far from Vegas as you can get and still be in Nevada I think.

Love the sun - but the wind plays havoc with a project outside.  Working on a dust control project.  With all the dust blowing around from the desert starting to wonder what the point is..........but it pays the bills.
