AMT,
You are in a tough spot because you have no diagnosis, no medical treatment and may possibly have to wait until November to see a neurologist.

My suggestion is go back to your doctor who prescribed you meds and tell him/her that they need to help you more than they have, even if that means a phone call to get you into a neurologist/headache specialist sooner.

You should probably get an MRI.

You mentioned the meds are not helping, well then don't take them as they have adverse affects.

Best advice I can give without you having a proper diagnosis is for you to eat clean, eat regular, get proper sleep and do some form of exercise for at least 45 minutes/daily.  Stay away from cigarettes and alcohol.

Hope you get help soon

Hi AMT and welcome

LasVagas gave you some good advice.

I'd start to keep a headache diary detailing when your headaches are, pain level, symptoms, possible triggers, headache duration and anything else you may think is relevant. This will help the neurologist with a diagnosis.

Since the appointment isn't for months, try ringing up to see if there are cancellations or other last minute availability. You might just get in sooner.

Also start reading up about everything headache related, get a good understanding of possible headache types (there are lots) so that when you see the neurologist you are in a position of knowledge, with lots of good questions to ask.

The MRI is a good idea as there are other possible causes of the symptoms you're reporting other than headaches. So it will hopefully rule out other causes.

I would try to convince the doctor office that the daily hits are a medical emergency. A doctor who is familiar with cluster headaches  would know how excruciating the pain is and would fit you in to his appointment schedule. Or else find another doctor.

Amen Frank ... they work for us ... it's their Hippocratic oath to attend to our pain ... sometimes you just have to piss and moan and maybe even scream ... but they will help you. If not ... do as Frank said ... find someone who understands CH and I assure you, they won't make you suffer that long. There are still some good medical prof's out there that actually care!
