Title: d3 regimen Post by seaworthy on Aug 30th, 2013 at 6:52pm
I see so many posts on the D3 regimen that it has become confusing.
Could someone put together a simplistic dosage and frequency post and maybe have DJ or Mrs. DJ add it to the menu on the left ? |

Don,
How long is a piece of string? Well, it depends........ There are simply no accurate guidelines without a blood test. Some folks need to load up with very heavy doses to get into a healthy range. Others only need a small boost - or none at all. How much time you spend in the sun does not provide a good guideline. I have my own opinion of what a "safe" maximum is, but even the deep researchers on this subject will argue this subject. The cheap blood test wins every time. FWIW, I visited my BIL in the hospital prior to back surgery. The surgeon commented that he had checked his Vitamin D level prior to surgery, because it has such a big impact on healing. If he had found the patient low, he would have given him a 50,000 unit loading dose and 20,000 per day for week before surgery. Vitamin D deficiency is being linked to a whole lot of health problems. You can hurt yourself with extreme doses. Some people actually need extreme doses for basic good health. The "mail in" tests are getting cheaper. Doesn't seem like something spend a lot of time guessing about. But then, I don't claim to have any expertise like many others here............. Marc |
