Title: Some weeds in my yard
Post by Marc on Sep 3rd, 2013 at 10:08pm
I was working out on the back acres of my land when I stumbled upon these little weeds. They stood out because it’s been 95F to 108F everyday in a row for 90+ days and very, very little rain. I just had to grab a couple of shots of them.

Reminds me of healing and rejuvenation.

And good photographs, with very fine control of the depth of field, especially in the first one.

I appreciate the kind words.

Some of my old USCG friends have been pushing me to put some of the old big wave action shots back online, so that caused me to start thinking about pictures again. That in turn caused me to put a bunch of stuff back online at

I have hundreds and hundreds of shots like these, but I took these in Bob P's backyard (before he moved to the mountains) He and Sarah lived on the land behind the boats in the first two pictures:

Again, I thank you guys for the supportive comments.

Today, I spent the day down on my wife's family ranch. The Lone Oak has been in the family continuously since 1853. Not fancy at all, just a simple rural spot in Gonzales County, TX about 45 minutes South of our place.

Just wanted to say hello, old friend.  Hope your head is treating you ok.
We - got our building permit last Monday.  Won't be long till we start digging a hole and throwing our money in!  The process really convinced me that our government is waaaayyyy too big.  Every agency has bs requirements to ensure it's existance.  Think I'll turn survivalist and go off the grid!

Bob!

Good to hear from you, Sir.

I've been watching the news waiting for reports of dirt flying at Valley Ranch causing the Feather river to back up - but it sounds like it's coming soon.

As far as Govt. control.......I figured you might have turned Left and headed to Hollywood to hang with your SIL's crowd by now ;-)

As far as I'm concerned, there is nothing wrong with having a touch of prepper in you..........

Be well my friend,

Marc

Don't joke about dirt and the river.  The Water Control Board tried to make me file a "storm water pollution prevention plan" which would have to be prepared by a certified plan preparer and he would have to inspect the property for proper containment measures every week during construction (unless it rained that week in which case he would have to inspect 3 times).  Luckily I found a document on their own website which said they were overstepping their own authority and I didn't have to do it!

Ah, the joys of bureaucracy - the New and Improved Moonbeam Kalifornia in particular. I think it's great that you found a way to slap them back!

Just don't let them catch you peeing in the river, or there will be a cattle prod involved during the interrogation........

Perhaps you are just scaring them, so think about scaling back your project scope. Maybe ditch the huge boathouse for the OUCH yacht and the camouflage decking covering it?

We spent the day down at the ranch again. Good thing there is lots of .22 on the shelves again, so the kids could in some plinking.

Had a great sky, so I couldn't resist a couple of snapshots......

Due to nasty and uncalled for bad0mouthing posts almost daily and lots of people leaving here because of it, DJ did the right thing.

Luinda,

I took Den's comment to mean the style of the old board layout - where you could reply directly to a particular post, with your response nested immediately below it.

This allowed side conversations and continuity of conversations to occur - because new posts didn't just get tacked onto the bottom of the list.

Oh sure, go ahead and agree with me Den.

All along I was thinking that you were just missing the days of taking your shirt off and wrestling with The Illustrated Man at a certain OUCH convention.......

Yer wrong Marc...yer right. Here i am posting this on a long line of conversations which began so totally off this topic... It's called a train of thought. There are multiple sidings and main tracks. Some ya want to follow ...some not so much if at all.
...and Linda....my deepest gratitude and smoochy love for DJ and he fer me i suspect would never be dimmed by my saying "he fucked up" . it's software.
n ...unlike i....who broke Jonny's rule about leavin once the pain stopped...you old cats have kept the flow going.
Bob....is a poser.
Wierd thing is...my CH ...which was killed by shrooms 7 years ago and only surfaced fer a few weeks in all that time ...shadows etc and a few 2's on the Kip scale and were stopped with o2 and ice...which brought me back here...home...have now left again...DREAM COME TRUE FOR A TRUE CH'ER...i can only blame the Clusterbuster gang for this residual lack of a fucking  daily Kip 10...not even qualifying me fer a seat on the suicide list...
butt back to the original post...nice flowers Marc

Most folks reading your post won't understand, but that is, what was, standard fare.

Your signature line says Conroe again (in lieu of the other Montgomery County) - you wouldn't fib, would you?
