Title: New to here not to CH Post by kateb on Sep 5th, 2013 at 5:33pm
Hi I have had cluster headaches for 20 years and have tried just about everything under the sun to make them take a leave of absence!! Right now I am on 360mg of Verapamil everyday even when I'm not in a cycle. When I'm in a cycle which seems to be about every 3 to 4 months I do 15 liters of O2 for about 10 minutes. Works like a dream most of the time. I also use vicodin for the few I get when I'm awake. I tried Botox it lessened the intensity of the headache for a while but doesn't seem to be doing anything now. Its nice to know that there are others that have them especially women. I have met a couple of men that have them but never another woman.

Hi kateb [smiley=wave.gif] Welcome to the CH family.
I'm a woman too. 63 years old - CH for 6 years but undiagnosed for the first 5. My neuro said at first that it wasn't CH because only men get them. I don't take a preventative as it seemed silly to fill my body with drugs every day for life, when sumatriptan auto injections work so well for me as an abortive. I do however take the vitamin D3 regime that you will find all over this site. It seems to be effective for 80% of those that try it. Been on it just over a month now, and so far so good. You will find many other suggestions here from the nicest people on earth. Keep coming back - you will find it helps just to know there are others who share your pain (women too) and always some one to listen. Take care Maz. |
