Title: I Know You Won't Believe This Post by purpleydog on Sep 22nd, 2013 at 12:59am
Hello,
I know it's been awhile since I've been here. My chronic CH hasn't changed, just been dealing with it, as usual. O2 and trex. Just a little background, my first hit was in 2000. I was episodic, cycles lasting for about 18 months. In 2004, I turned chronic. Over the last several months, back to late winter, I noticed a spot in my neck that when I got hit, it seemed to trace back to that spot. I have bulging discs, and thought another had popped up. I would rub it, with no result. Recently, the right sided hits changed over to the left side. You know the drill, eye was bloodshot, tearing, nose running, incredible pain. Constant shadows. And I could feel it in my neck in that one spot. I've been getting physical therapy lately, and the woman was treating my neck and back. She really worked my neck, and my upper back. When I was finished, I noticed the shadows dissipating. By the time I got home, the shadows were gone, with just a memory of the pain. By the end of the day, it was totally gone. This was different than when your shadows let up a bit, but you know they're still there, and another hit is coming. I know this is hard to believe. I would never had believed it myself if I had read it. It's been about 2 weeks now, and still nothing. I've had some very light shadows a couple times on the right side, but nothing like before. I'm not cured, of course, but it was nice to get this unexpected relief. It's not something my chiro could have fixed. It sure was a pleasant surprise. I'm sure you'll have some questions or comments, so please fire away. ;) |

Actually I do believe it. Our bodies react to the pain, muscle tension in the head, neck and shoulders can get intense, leave you feeling beat up and knotted up. It can be a self feeding circle, pain causes tension, tension causes more pain, and secondary symptoms can result.
Thankful for your PF time, hope it continues. |

I'm not surprised, with all the damage we tend to do to our head, neck and spine when we're fighting an attack! Glad you've found something that provides you some pain free time.

That's not hard to believe at all. The neck and upper back mascules are connected to the jaw mascules which surrounds the trigeminal nerve. Also, neck problems often mean some degree of inflammatory process and a disruption in blood flow to the head. They also effect your breathing quality.
With, say KIP 3-6 hits, a cup of coffee and some simple exercises for the back and neck are sometimes all I need to stop an attack. |

If I would have read my OP, I would have thought that the person maybe had something different from CH. That spot in my neck, left side, is there, but something has moved. The rest of my cervical and thoracic spine are still the complicated messes they've always been.
Even though mine switch sides, my CH has been on the right side for quite some time, and I could feel that trace in my left neck. The hits had recently switched over to the left (overnight), several Kip 9's with constant heavy shadows. Got the usual comments on the color of my left eye. I've only had some very light shadows on the right side since. I know some of us have spinal issues, I wonder how many do? I've taken several CH surveys, but can't recall if that issue was a question. This round of PT, I've been through 2 physical therapists. One was so-so, the one who fixed me is excellent. And, of course, you never know how someone is until you get them. If she can help the right side, I'll let you know. |
