Title: Verapramil and too much Calcium? Post by Alynn on Oct 9th, 2013 at 10:27am
I have been doing a lot of research and I am on Verapramil and the Vit D3 and Ive been reading that they should not be taken together because it can cause hypercalcemia? Anybody have any good thoughts on this? Im the 10,000ius daily, sometimes 20,000ius and Verapramil.

I also wanted to add, is there an interaction between prednisone and D3?

Alynn,
Good question... I'm not a doctor, but to the best of my knowledge there are no contraindications between verapamil and vitamin D3. Vitamin D3 is the safest nutrient we can take. Although taking prednisone may slow vitamin D3 metabolism, there have been no reports of problems taking them together over the last three years. There is a possible contraindication between oral calcium supplements and verapamil. Taking calcium supplements at the same time as verapamil may decrease verapamil's effectiveness. Taking them 12 hours apart will lessen any possible decrease in verapamil effectiveness. If you're taking verapamil for a heart condition, see your cardiologist. If you're taking verapamil as a CH preventative, see your neurologist. In either case there are tests of verapamil effectiveness if taking oral calcium supplements. Hope this helps... Take care and please keep us posted. V/R, Batch |

Thank you Batch, that does help. I am taking the prednisone, verapramil, and D3 all for CH. No other medical conditions. I wil keep taking my medications and try not to worry so much. Thank you again.
