Title: Addicted to CH.com
Post by shortstraw on Mar 7th, 2014 at 5:51pm
I don't seem to be able to stop reading posts about everything and everyone and then want to talk to them ! I'm relatively new to the site but I think it's becoming a bit obsessive. Is this normal behavior ? It does seem to be good for the soul and I must admit it's been one of my better addictions in my life

Is this normal behavior ?
Yes. Some folks have been here for years.
And, your cluster headaches are because of a broken hypothalmus. And, the hypothalmus is partly in control of your addictions. What's the connections? Probably none.

I just remember the days when the internet was about porn and pictures of cute cats climbing in boxes. Now it's about finding solutions to my ailing body whatever it may be. Just coming to terms  with getting old or being broken I suppose.

Had I not fallen victim to CH.com, I'd never have come to know Giuseppe.

Pardon the cliché but "every cloud has a silver lining" Never more evident than on the site !

I haven't had a cluster attack in 9 years but I still check the message board every day!

Me too Shortstraw. I check in every day, even when not in cycle. It feels like I've really got to know people and I want to follow up on thier posts to find out how they're doing. And I had the great pleasure of meeting Aussie Brian and Denny M who I found on this site. Got friends all over the world now.
Maz.

Thanks everyone, feeling more "normal" already
I think I'm going to fit in perfectly here. So many "like" minds in the one place can be a very powerful thing !

If i had'nt found this web site, i would still be getting CH's. I've been CH free for 12mths now. And, i owe it all to this
web site. "The vitamin D3 remedy"

Amen Hoppy... I've been PF since Oct 21st and it's owed mostly to this site being here. And the interaction  here. (And my wonderful BATCH and his D3).

One thing Shortstraw.. if you get a chance to MEET a CHer in PERSON - DO IT! That really makes things worthwhile - something you have to experience to understand. Trust me - you will NOT be meeting a stranger..

I keep checking just to see if the yacht Bob P stole has been returned yet.

Hi Barbara,
It's always good to wake up and read some positive news.

Wishing you pain free days forever.

November 99 for me Lenny.  Heck I can even remember way back when I thought Boob was old! But that was before I caught up with him.

Essentially in remission now - just some occasional minor hits. Haven't refilled the "T" tank in about 16 months. Pretty sure it's the vitamin D thing because when I get sloppy about taking them, my wife spots me turning my head the way I did before a hit.

Years ago, I know that Bob hid it among the Baywood Navy vessels in Los Osos, CA. Now I'm trying to figure out how he moved it. I wonder if I can find satellite shots of the river below his new wooded estate in the Sierra's..........

Yep he's one sneaky little bxx (oops) person alright.. I think he's getting help somewhere. But the satellite is worth looking into.. Keep us up to date on the results. I know that's worrying Don.  :)

That's funny.  I heard rumors the yacht sank.   ;D

This thread is bringing back a lot of good memories.  I kind of miss the old days before FB when everybody was here.  FB just isn't the same.

Shortstraw,

Let me suggest you search the archives for the story about the O2 safety kit, or Chuck's account of the attack of the toilet seat.  Maybe some kind soul will give you the link.  I've lost them, but I also lost half a day searching the archives that was one of the best half days I've ever spent.

I'm with you Jerry.. FB isn't the same as this place (maybe that's why I come here every day).

And the archives have some great stories. They were hilarious the first time and are still hilarious today. I'm still trying to find Kip's "puppies". He never did live that one down.  :)

And I hadn't heard the rumor about the yacht sinking.. I'll bet Bob P just started that one to get the heat off.  :) But have no fear someday we'll find it. He can run, but he can't hide...

Tall tales and true from our legendary past? That would have to include the story of the lady, her 'lady's aid' and the dread outcome that could only befall a lady CHead.

I'd love to see that one again, even if names are changed to protect the guilty.

Thanks Linda for the link to the toilet seat story. When I told my wife she laughed out loud while for me it brought memories of a sadistic zipper in the men's room at a movie cinema. Really enjoying the archives.

It's been a long time since we've heard about the adventurous soap opera life of Lady Elaine.

I'm glad my link went through to someone.  Apparently there is a problem with replying to posts as mine seems to not be there anymore.  DJ is working on the problem.

The fact that my last post went through is curious.

I reckon these old stories deserve a thread of their own. Just used the ch.com search thing to find Jayne's 'big man in the drawer' and still have my legs crossed in empathy.

A certain gentleman's study of wind, tide and remaining seaworthy which was around the same time another boat went missing.

Then there was the photographs that began with a mountain peak in the sky and you scrolled down, and down, and down until you finally arrived at the shoe. I dinkum got motion sick from some of those pics.

For all that's wrong with the world, it allowed me my moments of denial and bliss and sometimes nostalgia is everything it should be.

Long live the ratbags who found a smile within this nightmare.

Brian, you are bringing back memories for sure!  I miss seeing Paul's photos, which always seemed to have his foot included.  Beautiful shots!

Paul was able to go PF several years ago due to busting, and is living happily now in North Carolina, the last I knew.  I see him every once in a while on FB.

In the early days when there were so few of us we HAD to stick together and support each other.  Now that this site has done its job of spreading the word, and FB has connected the whole world the way it has it seems we don't need the community as badly.  I say "it seems", but the fact is we do need the community just as much.  A goodly portion has moved over to CB dot com, which is great, and i try to show up there once in a while.  Miss the old days, though.

Jerry
