Title: Monitoring the beast
Post by robbinn on Apr 5th, 2014 at 4:14pm
Hi all.

My name is Robert and I have been having Cluster attacks since I was 17. I am 41 now.
I link it to a car accident I had and I got a whiplash on my neck and hit the window with my head.
First time the beast visited I did not understand what was going on. I thought I was dying. Then I thought that I had a brain tumor. Common thoughts for first timers. Anyhow I got scanned and nothing was found.
Later I was diagnosed with a Migraine and got medicine called Anervan in tablet form. It works ok if you take it when you feel the shadow coming. Then it is preventive. When the beast visits at night, the Anervan tablets take about 25 or 30 minutes to kick in so I have to walk the beast around until they are effective.
I did not believe that it was Migraine as I did not have the normal symptoms of migraine and got another opinion from a neurologist. He asked me few key questions about the Cluster symptoms and I answered all with yes.
Then I got Immigran, a nasal spray that works a lot faster. I have also used Zomig Nasal which is more expensive but come without recept.

I hope that the medicine list helps someone out there.

Regards,
Robert

Hello Robert, and glad you're here. Although we both wish we neither had to be here. You're experience with pill anythings is the same as ours: they're too slow working to be of any good. We also have found Sumatriptan sprays to be helpful. I also use Migranal, a DHE type spray. In addition we have found Imitrex injections to be fast and effective. But our favorite go-to abort is to fast chug an ice cold energy drink (Monster, Red Bull, etc) and hit high flow O2 (15lpm or higher). You still need to find a preventative, though. Read the threads here on D3 then ask any questions. blessings. lance
