Title: New from Indiana Post by cwf1966 on Jun 23rd, 2014 at 8:39pm
My wife found this site a few days ago and I am glad she did. I am 48 years old and was diagnosed in 2009. I have to say that after reading some of the posts, I feel like I have nothing to complain about. I am in my 4th fight with this monster in 5 years. Nothing compared to most on here. I usually get them in the spring and fall, usually 18 months apart. This time is different. It was over 2 years this time and it's hit in the summer. And it has hit with a vengeance. Well, I just wanted say hello and I'm glad this site is here. Looks like I'm going to be pacing here shortly. Have a good night everyone.

Hi there! { big hug } to you and so sorry to hear you have this terrible pain, it's really not fair.
Hang in there, and if it is not that bad now, just learn all you can and see if you can stop the beastie in its tracks! - water - water - did i mention water? :) - oxygen non-rebreather mask 100% 15-25 lpm (I use 8-13 lpm foolishly trying to ration o2 and get about 80% success rate) - sumatriptan for headaches that won't respond to oxygen, but can only do this a few times a week (heart) - prednisone & tramadol for headaches that won't respond to sumatriptan, but can only do this a few times a year (immune system etc...) little things that don't fix it but take the edge off: - ice packs - intraoral massage masseter & other muscles in mouth - caffeine (use with caution... rebound) - driving fist into face & pulling hair (okay be careful, you don't want to hurt yourself, lol!) I feel you, hang in there, and know that you're not alone! :) |
