Title: lifelong fear
Post by Bob P on Oct 10th, 2014 at 7:17am
It's been nine years since my last cluster attack.  Yesterday my wife and I were unpacking boxes in the new house.  She pulled out my O2 rig, regulator, mask, etc., and asked if I still wanted it.  I quickly grabbed it from her hands and held it close saying that I wanted to keep it, just in case.  I guess it will go to the grave with me as well as the fear that It may return someday.

Wow...nine years! That gives me something to aspire to, Bob. Personally, I think having my O2 stuff around keeps me a little more mindful of how wonderful a day is without CH. It's not like I pay attention to it every day, but it's kind of like having an old friend around. And congrats on the new home!

I'm with you Bob.. my O2 tank has a place in the corner of my bedroom. Haven't needed it in almost a year, but..

I don't think any of us will ever get over the "fear" ... it's just a part of us.

Congrats and enjoy the new home.. :-*

I understand completely Bob.  And pattik it is a reminder of the time when we have to huff the O2 and the wonderful PF time between cycles.

It took me over 2.5 years to return my oxygen cylinders after going CH pain free using vitamin D3. But I've still got two regulators, several masks and I can get the oxygen quickly if needed. I don't think I'll ever want to get rid of my O2 kit, just in case...

Congrats on the new home too.

I haven't had a cycle in nearly 6 years, though I have had a couple of random ones.  It's those random ones that make sure I keep my 02 tank, mask, imitrex, syringes, the works.

Congrats on new house BWT.

Bob,

Geeez, 9 years already. Seems like yesterday you were reporting the every other year pattern........

No "real" hits in many months for me, but I certainly do know the "fear" part quite well.

Hey, a really good part of your post is the unpacking in the new house. THAT's been a long time coming, my friend!

What's the Grandkid count up to? Last I heard was 3.

Marc

20mths CH free, since being on the vitamin D3 regime.
We are halfway through Spring, bad time of the year for
me, but never ever think about the possibility of the [smiley=evil.gif] paying me another visit  [smiley=happy.gif]

Bob, at one of our conventions where Dr. Peter Goadsby spoke,  He was asked by Jimmy Hendrix if he could consider himself done with CH. (it had been more than 12 years since he'd been hit)    Goadsby said NO!!!    So, do NOT get ride of anything.  Put it in the garage or a seldom used closet.

BTW...Jim and I just bought a house in Santa Maria.   ;)

Marc - with daughter number one, the twins will be 4 yo in a couple of months and Zelda will be 2 yo.  Daughter number two just announced she's packin'.  So grandkid number 4 is on the way.
Linda - Santa Maria, the old stompin ground.  Enjoy a steak dinner at the Great Western out in Guadelupe.

Bob, four is a reasonable start.  ;) I'm at nine grandkids and not near done yet. We just married off the youngest (24 yrs old) of my five daughters a few months ago, he's Army and just got posted to Ft. Polk, LA.

The circle of life continues......

Bob, it's hard to believe it's been 9 years, but I'm so glad for you!  You give me hope!  I'd keep the regs and masks, although the masks may have dry-rotted.  I certainly hope they never return!

Congrats on the house and the grandbaby on the way!  Grandbabies are great!

O2, you be my wife,
To you I owe my life.
I lie with you, cry without you,
Die should I not have you.
Steel bottle, you're so beautiful,
Youthful, slim and touchable,
Seductive, seducive and
Oh! Just so sensual.

Your slinkiness and hardness
And coolness alone,
Render me speechless,
Entirely in your thrall.
Let me breathe of your breath,
New lease on life, not ugly death,
To live again, be a man again,
You're my be-all and end-all.

Those taps and gauges
Drive me wild with desire.
I must touch them and stroke them,
Like stoking a fire.
I'm burning and yearning
And hearing you calling,
Just seeing you there
Like lingerie falling.

O2! Please hold me,
Let me be bold with you.
We'll snuggle and cuddle,
Kill this monster a-borning.
It's not just chance meeting,
Or love so fleeting,
Thank you, O2,
I'll respect you in the morning.
