Title: Tighten Your Belts
Post by BarbaraD on Nov 16th, 2014 at 11:11am
The Tulsa IRS seminar was enlightening to say the least. This year is going to be a bugger and everyone may be in for some big surprises when you file your taxes.

After 16 hours of sitting on my skinny butt listening to the changes for the 2014 returns, I'm more confused than I was last year. This AFFORDABLE health care act is going to give the most sane preparer a BIG headache (pun intended). This is definitely going to be Excedrin Headache 1040.

The forms have changed and they've added new "attachments" to the 1040 for the heathcare part and some of the other forms have changed also.

If you've done your own taxes (with the software from Wal-Mart) you might want to rethink that this year.

And if you take your taxes to a preparer - PLEASE don't yell at the preparer.. Yell at Congress (where the yelling belongs).

And 2015 is going to be worse according to the laws already in place.

Now don't you all feel cheered up..  :-/

But the good news... I did get to spend some time with my grandkids and that was great. I really miss the little mutts. We celebrated both their birthdays and they loved the presents Granny brought them.

But I'm home now trying to "relive" what I was "told"... got all my materials out in front of me trying to figure out what WAS said and why retirement sounds so good.. ::)

But the holidays are coming up and I'll worry about taxes after the turkey is eaten on Thanksgiving. Will get the nice software the following week.. Then I get to go to work in earnest.

So that's how my life is going.. How's yours..  :-* :-*

thanks for the update Barb. not sure our belts can get much tighter. Yes, my wife and I have been going to the same accountant for years and it seems the ability for him to be cerative is waning.
I was just thinking this morning how quickly tax season comes around. looking forward to turkey day and trying to stay warm in New England. (and it seems most of the country) after a fair amount of yard work today, going to fire up the "Big Green Egg" (ceramic cooker) with some apple wood chunks and spatchcock a chicken. GOOD TIMES
