I thought I'd share what is happening in Ferguson on a nightly basis.  How these officers keep their cool is beyond me.

Thanks for the post. I noticed you are in St. Louis and have been meaning to ask. I think it's going to be a rough ride for a while there. all are watching as the decision will set the tone in many major cities

I am hoping that things will not get as bad as some are fearing.

me too, some question whether bringing in the National Guard might incite things and make it worse, hard to critisize that move, but I see both sides of it. after watching the video you posted, it's hard to believe such hate and ignorance still exists. once it gets to that level it is difficult to stop and seems to be perpetuated so that some can stand for something.
what an amazing place we would all be in if we could just stand together......

Ferguson is the epicenter, however it is very concerning that Fox News reported last night that Al Sharpton is organizing so called "protests" in many major US cities regardless of the grand jury's decision. This is one extremely racist community leader that President Obama has invited to the White House 81 times in recent history, despite Al Sharpton allegedly owing 4.5 million dollars in past due taxes. Anybody familiar with the saying "if you go to bed with dogs, you'll wake up with fleas."?

I've stayed out of this BUT.. this whole mess has gotten out of hand. Al S. needs to crawl back in the hole he came out of and stay there. He's the most racist SOB in America today and just keeps things stirred up that don't need it.

I wonder if anything would have been said (or even noticed) if this had been a white kid? And his color shouldn't really matter... if he was breaking the law he SHOULD have been arrested.. and the rest - we weren't there (and neither was Al) so this should be left to police inquiry and not to mobs!

I wasn't there and don't know if the policeman was just doing his job or if he was wrong, but either way, this has been blown way out of context and not only is a kid dead, but it's ruined the policeman's life (thank you Mr Al).

It's gotten to the point in the US where policemen (as well as teachers and others) can't even do their jobs for fear of upsetting someone and being called a racist. Instead of treating everyone EQUAL - we're bending over backwards to be politically correct and we're not doing anyone a favor by doing this.

I'm old enough to remember ALL the political movements for EQUAL rights (and marched for most of them), but the word EQUAL was the KEY word. I'm too OLD now to be politically correct. I still believe in EQUAL. And I don't give a rat's rear what color, religion, sex, or sexual orientation you are... equal is equal and should be that way.

But the media has to blow everything out of proportion and they need to go back to 30 minutes of reporting once a night and maybe some of this crap would get stifled.

Well Jeannie, you may want to stay inside tonight. The decision is supposed to come down at 8:00 pm... fingers crossed that people dont lose their minds there and in other big cities.........

It's getting pretty intense around here.  Again...I am hoping things don't get as bad as they are preparing for.

I find it interesting how the mainstream media refers to the "helpless 18 year old teen.".

Yet it is not commonly mentioned that an 18-year-old is a legal adult with the ability to vote, sign a legal contract and fight in our military.

This particular legal adult was 6 foot 4 and almost 300 pounds and police arrived on the scene to question this "teen" who was on video tape strong arming an employee at a convenience store that he was robbing.

It appears the media is creating a self-fulfilling prophecy of racial violence,  which was fueled back in August with immediate attention from Eric Holder and President Obama and their buddies, Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson.

should be an interesting evening beginning at 9 p.m. Eastern Standard Time when they announced the grand jury's decision.

Well Don, you called it.. I woke up this morning to the news.. and it ain't good.

One thing that was said on the news this morning is that the Grand Jury is the ONLY ones who looked at ALL the evidence and came back with a NO BILL.

These protests are out of hand and getting worse. Do these people not realize we have a justice system. Right or wrong it's what we have and until something better comes along - it's worked for over 200 years and counting.

And the sad part about those businesses that were burned is that their insurance probably won't even cover them because of a "civil unrest" clause that's usually in the policies.

It's a sad day.. Jeannie please stay safe. :-*

I am sickened by what happened last night. And so sad.

Jesse Jackson was on the news this morning actually justifying the violence.  I wanted to put my fist right through the screen.

  Last week a black, single mom who owned a bakery was on the news begging for protestors to not harm her only means of support.  There were tears in her eyes.  I'd love to know if her shop survived.

   As Joe Sprecco said on face-book this morning.."nothing says honoring the life of a young man, like stealing a 50in. T.V."

The lame stream media (good title, Batch) sucks.
Was watching the CBS news last night and couldn’t believe how anti-police, pro-shop lifter that news service (?) could get. CBS was showing the 18 yr. old in a cap and gown as if he was good, clean graduate of some kind. The photo was on screen for at least 60 seconds. They also showed a video of the thug robbing a store but the video was all of 5 second long,
CBS also said the cop was “in hiding”. Hmmmm…hiding? I think it was more likely he was just not on TV. It should have been reported the cop was “in seclusion” or “out of town”, not hiding.

Al Sharpton is going to get an officer killed. He just incited my city.

The justice system (flawed as it may be) is much better than what other countries have . There are other less effective systems that do not allow for the freedoms that we have and that have come at a cost.

There are ways to protest within this law and be heard. I would say it is what keeps us from acting like animals however, animals don't react to anything in this fashion.

disgusting. Suppose I would be even more pissed if this happened on veterans day. but this is how so many show appreciation and give thanks for what they have ? Happy Thanksgiving ! So many have given so much. what a slap in the face  

I'm hoping the National Guard will be allowed to do something tonight, if things get bad again. And praying my nephew will be safe as his unit was activated this morning.

The fact of the matter is the police officer was acting within his line of duty protecting himself. Crimes were committed by Michael Brown and Officer Wilson was dong his job. Officer Wilson was attacked and acted in self defense.  Unfortunately, this legal process was not clearly understood by the "demonstrators" resulting in their choice to become violent.

It is a shame a life was lost, regardless of age, color, gender, etc.  However the message that should be crystal clear by the media (including President Obama and Eric Holder) to the American public should understand it is a crime to attack a police officer and it is legally justified to have the officer use lethal force if he chooses to in the act of self defense.

One thing is for sure...acts of violence including arson, looting, throwing bottles at police, property damage, etc does not make matters better, only worse.  These "demonstrators" who are NOT peaceful, should all be arrested and locked up as would be customary on any other day in our country.

Many major US cities are being fueled by "community leaders" and racial outrage is getting uglier by the hour.

Does anybody remember the civil rights demonstrations that turned into race riots in many major cities in 1968 that created "White flight" to the suburbs?  Hopefully history does not repeat itself and we as a citizenry can get through this without the loss of innocent lives and understand this chaos is being created by a few bad apples.

Maybe the policemen should go back to carrying tazers.. (I think they've be deemed "cruel and undue punishment" in stopping a criminal these days). But since they can't use them and the kid grabbed for his gun... well.. would that not be a case of the officer fearing for "his" life?

And yes, the news ain't showing the whole story and probably won't as long as Al and Jesse are running their mouths and keeping things on the front page.

And I DO remember all the protests of the 60s and the war protests of the 70s and I think they were WRONG. There's NO excuse for looting, burning and all this bull that's going on. It wasn't right then and it's not right now.

I know, in this country, we have the "right" to march freely and protest what we don't agree with, but it's gone way too far. Burning the flag is just something out of line in my opinion (and yes they were doing that too). And putting business in jeopardy is WRONG any way you look at it.

The National Guard should have the right to STOP this madness ... tazers or whatever - arrests.. but peaceful is one thing ... but when the first cocktail is thrown... DO SOMETHING.. sometimes ya gotta fight fire with fire. This has just gone on long enough... The hell with PC and molly-coddling these idiots.. They need to be in jail.. It would cost a lot less to keep them there than let them loose on the streets.

Taking this to the GJ was a moot point to begin with. Missouri law states that an officer has the right to use deadly force to apprehend a fleeing felon. The moment one lays his hands on a police officer, one has committed a felony. Whether we agree with that law or don't, it is the way the law is written. The way I understand it, if Michael Brown had even just poked Officer Wilson with his finger then attempted to flee,  Wilson was legally justified in shooting him.

So WHY doesn't that POINT get brought OUT?  The officer was doing his DUTY by law..

The kid was robbing a store - the policeman stopped him and the kid fought him (policeman has wounds where he hit him).. and grabbed for his gun.. And don't give me the argument that he was "just a kid and wasn't thinking".. he's was 18 and an ADULT in the eyes of any law I've heard about.

One good thing about the 60s Gregg - Chet, David and Walter gave us about 30 minutes of condensed news at 6 o'clock and that was it for the day. Anything else we had to READ in the paper and draw our own conclusions. (except when JFK was shot). Personally I think that was a better idea.. They just gave the "facts" and didn't have 100 experts on to analyze the heck out of things.

But today I'm not watching ANY news.. I'm just going to be thankful for everything that's going right and wish everyone a PF Thanksgiving.. Jeannie.. you stay safe and warm and enjoy the day.. (But stay inside.. :-*

Looks like there are some St. Louis Rams players that should be fined big time, fired and banned from pro-football. The good fans of the Rams pay outrageous money for tickets to see a football game and end up with being subjected to overpaid crybabies displaying their misguided political views in a packed
stadium. Can you say "inciting a riot"?

It is disappointing to see some who choose to leverage their fame and use it as a platform to impose their misinformed and ignorant views upon others. there should be sanctions for those who use their profession to reach others with their opinions.

Early Sunday morning, three teens dragged a man from his car and beat him to death with hammers while his wife stood helpless. This happened in the Bevo area of the city which is largely a Bosnian community. Today they went to the streets to honor the victim and bring awareness to the crime which many feel was racially motivated.

I ask... Where is Al Sharpton? Where is the national news media? Where are the protesters rallying in support?
