Title: Espreso as a makeshift medication Post by solar_sea on Dec 6th, 2014 at 5:26am
Hi all. I found this site after a friend of mine studying medicine suggested that I might have CH. ( after a CT scan, eye and blood pressure checks and still no diagnosis by med. officials ) It all matches pretty good - recurring episodes of pain behind my left eye with tears and a clogged nostril on the same side.
I'm a regular coffee drinker and I found out that taking a couple of espresso cups or a moka pot and some water genuine helps me during an episode. Lesser ones effectively go away while more powerful onsets are often dulled down such that I can get through them. Has anyone had similar success with coffee or other, readily-available products ? Hi Stan and welcome
You really do need to get a diagnosis from a headache specialist as there are many possible causes of the CH symptoms. Part of the diagnosis is ruling out all other possible causes, which is why this needs a specialist. You are part way through the process after getting the diagnostic tests you've had done, which will have rules out quite a few potential causes. For some headache types, not just CH, caffeine can help, so this does not rule CH out or in. We've also found that energy drinks with both caffeine and taurine can also help. The diagnosis is essential as without it your doctors won't know what medication is required to correctly treat this. |
